As a new poster I can not contribution or leave my input in the real threads that discuss the identity of Bitcoin.

I just wanted to give me opinion of the current look of the symbol/logo for Bitcoin.

My initial reaction to the logo (before understanding the technology) was one of mistrust and cheapness.

The connotations of the current logo have  few problems:

1. The current logo looks cheap and my first impression of it before understanding Bitcoin was that it was a fake currency. (it seriously just doesn't look legit)
2. It bares a strong resemblance to $ which is the old system and I don't see why we should stay with this.
3. B is already more heavy and so placing 2 horizontal lines makes it look over done. S, Y, C are very light in comparison and striking lines through these works.
4. Bitcoin is very seamless and quick and the logo should bare some resemblance to technology. Right now it does not it, Currently it looks like a gold coin with some double gangsta vertical lines through a capital B.

Bitcoin is not gold and it is not the dollar.

I have worked on a few ideas myself more less just getting basics out there so people would consider a modernized identity for bitcoin.

I believe symbol should be revised to something close to this Ƀ http://www.ecogex.com/bitcoin/

But I think the short horizontal line should not intersect the B but extrude out of it.

I agree, current bitcoin logo is cheesy. With all the people who support bitcoin surely there is one graphic designer who can improve this!

Ive seen that new 3D design of the coin. It doesn't do it for me. The whole point I'm making is that the symbol looks unsuited for this technology.

Also all that 'in bla we trust' and other kinds of things related to current money is very very corny.

I actually like the current logo. It's good enough.
