My cgminer settings for my 7850 are:

--gpu-fan 0-75 -w 256 -v 1 -I 13 -g 1 --thread-concurrency  8192 --temp-cutoff 90 --gpu-engine 850 --gpu-memclock 1208 --lookup-gap 2

I get 268 Kh/s in scrypt with that but only 188 MH/s in SHA 256 (ppc and trc)

Gui Miner with flags "-v -w256" gives me 240 Mh/s

How do I mine PPCoin/SHA crypto currencies at a higher speed (while still desktop usable) ?

Are there PPC pools with irc channels that can help with configurations? Guys in the give-me-ltc pool helped me tweak my settings for scrypt.

The block chain is the main innovation of Bitcoin. It is the first distributed timestamping system.

I'd imagine the differences you're experiencing are caused by the downclock of the gpu engine and increase of memclock (works great for ltc, gpu engine needs to be changed back for btc, and you can downclock memclock). try removing those two flags for btc/ppc mining and let us know.

That's actually my default core and memory speeds.

I removed those settings and rebooted the computer and I still get 188 Mh/s in cgminer.

I got upto 245 Mh/s in Gui Miner with these flags:
poclbm -v -w256 -f1

remove all flags besides intensity and worksize and see what cgminer spits out.

-w 256 -I 13 gets me 187 Mh/s
-w 256 -I 10 gets me 187 Mh/s
-w 256 -I 8 gets me 187 Mh/s
-w 256 -I 6 gets me 186 Mh/s
-w 256 -I 6 gets me 181 Mh/s

Someone in the d7 ppc pool did mention lowering the intensity might help but I don't think it does?

Edit:
For some reason GUI Miner is less stressful on my GPU (slightly lower temps) than cgminer on SHA (I've not tried GUI Miner scrypt.)

I'm also running on AMD 13.3 Beta drivers since I had artifacts on 13.1 drivers (someone in the give-me-ltc pool let me know about needing the 13.3 Beta drivers to remove artifacting.)

Bump?

The card is a 2GB ASUS HD7850-DC2-2GD5

Overclocking the gpu to 1000 gets me 280 Mh/s in cg miner but I've seen it reach 330+ in scrypt. The card gets too hot when oc since I've got a closed micro atx case so I've let GPU Tweak default values apply: 860 for gpu, 1200 for memory where it's only 189 Mh/s with the settings: -I 13 for cgminer.
