Bytecoin has a website complete with pool and exchange which is supposed to be coming to: http://www.bytecoin.in/

In the meantime I am opening this thread for:

1. People who wish to buy/sell BTE
2. People who want to talk and speculate on the trading of BTE
3. People who wish to exchange goods/services for BTE
4. People who want to probe community interest in bounties for BTE before making an official thread
5. People who wish to advertise websites/business that accept BTE for payment

How is it not working...?

Using Lubuntu on laptop 'cos believe it or not, XP runs quite slow on it.  However, it's 32-bit, and I can't get the 64-bit Linux version to work at all.

Have you tried cloning it from the git or building it from the source tar-ball...?

I could probably try but I don't know a thing about this OS.

From command prompt:
Code:
sudo apt-get install git-core;
git clone git://github.com/bryan-mills/bytecoin.git;
cd bytecoin
make -f makefile.unix bytecoind USE_UPNP=

This will download and build the client, once it's done building:

Code:
./bytecoind -daemon

This will display a message telling you to create a file called bytecoin.conf and place it in ~/.bytecoin

In bytecoin.conf put:

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=supersecretpassword
rpcport=port you want to mine on
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
server=1

then navigate back to bytecoind and again do:

Code:
./bytecoind -daemon

the point your miner to 127.0.0.1 at the port you set in "rpcport=" with your chosen username and pass to begin mining

I did not have a problem building the gui (qt) version.

The easy way is to use qt creator. You can install it using apt, aptitude or your distro's software center, just search/install qtcreator.

Once installed just start it up and point it to the bitcoin-qt.pro file in your bytecoin directory. Click the configure button and wait for the creator to parse the file.

The hammer icon (compile) will go from grey to color when ready. Hit that icon and qt creator will compile the qt(gui) version in a new folder with a name like Bitcoin-qt-build....

When done your should have a bitcoin-qt (which is bytecoin, the developer just did not change the name in the make files) executable ready to go.

Generally the way it works is you have 18 posts and I have I have 700+ posts so you would send first as I have more reputation in the community than you.

I have multiple successful trades with iamrickrock and had multiple successful deals with nethead here in the forums if you'd like to ask for credibility references.

Once you have sent the 0.1 BTC reply here with your BTE address and I will send your coins...

At the current rate (1k for 0.1 BTC) you should be able to get at least 10k for 1 BTC, there are probably people who will give a little more for the full 1 BTC...

It is getting difficulty to mine this coin now. Difficulty is currently 1024 at block 10863. At block 12096 we can expect the difficulty to go up to 4096.

I got in on this fairly early on April 2nd and now have 25,000 Bytecoins to my name. If it hadn't been launched on April 1st I would have started mining on day one. Anyway, it is always a joy to watch coins being minted.

i have 1000bte left to sell at 0.4btc then im waiting for a real exchange to open before i do anything else with the rest of my coins. So if anyone is interested, pm me. *im going to bed now but ill see the message and we can do the trade in the morning*

also even if someone undercuts me by a few btc consider that i have been building up a bit of a reputation for reliability in selling bte, quite a few people can vouch for that, also i have given away atleast a couple hundred bte so far for free. So what im saying is dont get screwed by some new account inorder to save a few pennies. =)

cheers!

0.4 BTC seems a little high, that's like $60 for something that doesn't have any real value. How about 0.1 BTC for 1000 BTE ? I'll trust you, and send the BTC first  Smiley
