Bytecoin has a website complete with pool and exchange which is supposed to be coming to: http://www.bytecoin.in/

In the meantime I am opening this thread for:

1. People who wish to buy/sell BTE
2. People who want to talk and speculate on the trading of BTE
3. People who wish to exchange goods/services for BTE
4. People who want to probe community interest in bounties for BTE before making an official thread
5. People who wish to advertise websites/business that accept BTE for payment

How is it not working...?

Using Lubuntu on laptop 'cos believe it or not, XP runs quite slow on it.  However, it's 32-bit, and I can't get the 64-bit Linux version to work at all.

Have you tried cloning it from the git or building it from the source tar-ball...?

I could probably try but I don't know a thing about this OS.

Selling 1k BTE... Offers...?

0.01 BTC

I've already seen 1k go for 0.1 https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=164749.0
And have also seen 1k go for a pizza valued at ~$10 USD

I will hold out for better offers,  but thank you anyway...

From command prompt:
Code:
sudo apt-get install git-core;
git clone git://github.com/bryan-mills/bytecoin.git;
cd bytecoin
make -f makefile.unix bytecoind USE_UPNP=

This will download and build the client, once it's done building:

Code:
./bytecoind -daemon

This will display a message telling you to create a file called bytecoin.conf and place it in ~/.bytecoin

In bytecoin.conf put:

rpcuser=username
rpcpassword=supersecretpassword
rpcport=port you want to mine on
rpcallowip=127.0.0.1
server=1

then navigate back to bytecoind and again do:

Code:
./bytecoind -daemon

the point your miner to 127.0.0.1 at the port you set in "rpcport=" with your chosen username and pass to begin mining
