This temper tantrum being thrown at CI is ridiculous.  He is free to create what he wants and to offer/sell in any manner he chooses.

How many of you, throwing stones from your glass houses here, declined ANY non-CI offers and access to early releases, low serials, or ANY other special access/offer and instead told the maker to do it in a way you now claim it should have been done?  None!  So stop with this hypocrisy!

I understand that you are upset that you were not contacted and offered this coin.  So, please keep your words and don't bid on the 10th.  I'll be happy to bid on it so that I can buy it.  Please don't use your second accounts either to bid with, nor should you make any new accounts.  Keep your word please Smiley

To those 9 who got this offered from CI, please show your support and contact CI privately if you don't wish to post here.  CI doesn't deserve this terrible treatment.  CI should be able to make his products and offer them as he chooses freely.  The potential buyers can choose to buy or not.

To the kids who didn't get the candy: grow up and get over it.

Why does the current group that feels special and privileged think that manufacturers should only think of you when offering limited products?  The world does not revolve around you forever.  Don't be so stingy.  CI or any other manufacturer is free to offer their limited releases to anyone they want to.

Where is the list of the 9 people that *got* offered and *bought* these coins? I'm pretty sure that not all of them want to remain private, so might as well let us know (otherwise the story can't be verified at all).

The story is verified now obviously, since people just posted that they received it or declined it.
I do understand that there may be concern about a potentially hacked account and maybe a possible scam to be pulled off, but now that it is verified, you should really reconsider your negative ding.  It is inappropriate and an absolute abuse of your position.  May be your feedback should be corrected to specifically state that YOU can't afford the premium and YOU were not offered one and therefore YOU are upset.  Be honest instead of being presumptuous and pretend to know what is appropriate to do and how CI should run his business.

It is not up to you nor is it your business to decide what a "correct" premium should be.  Maybe CI want's to make some money, so what? it's a free market.  but more likely than not, he needs to get the gold coin right and needs to use this silver run as a test and maybe even to spread the costs.  He probably tied up his life savings or a Yuge portion of capital in producing the gold coin.  If anything goes wrong, he will lose his shirt.  The risk on a small production to be minted is insane!  and things do go wrong often.   Or maybe he just wants to do it to just offer it to 10 people because he wants to.  He doesn't need your approval on how to do it and how much to charge.  He's a smart business man to rewards his customers.  I do, totally understand, that it sucks to feel left out, but please, grow up and act like an adult.   Many of us here have felt left out from other non-CI offerings, but we do not ding the maker with a negative feedback in retaliation.  This is disgraceful on your part.

Please dont be down on CI. This was well intentioned.
Asking an absurd premium ($450 for 2 oz), and making only a single coin available to the collectors is "well intention"?

But I know there are many not seeing it that way. This was just a misjudgement, nothing more.
Unless they figure out a good way to make up for this, my rating is going to stick permanently and they will go down into the Coin Creator blacklist (Coin Council approved).

Absurd because YOU think it is.  Obviously it sold, so the premium lines up with what people are willing to pay.  the problem is that you feel left out and/or maybe you can't afford this premium.  This does not give you the right to do what you did.  Blackmailing is not cool.
You recently joined the slack group for coin collectors and now you claim to be THE council?  You personally do not speak for everyone.

This is ridiculous, to say the least. If CI wants to release 10 coins then what is the issue? Since when do buyers dictate what the sellers do? I agree it was a pretty silly move and pissed off his future buyers...
edit: I just feel like people are overreacting here
Understandable because it sucks to be excluded.  But such as life.  It's better to support a coin maker than to throw entitled fits of rage when you don't get the piece of candy.  Most collectors here, yourself included, do not throw ridiculous fits of rage.

Good luck with your auction and future sales.
my apologies for any previous comments.
thanks
Now, here is someone who is an adult.  Smiley

Something to consider is that since only 10 coins were made, the cost of having the dies made and design fees are only split between 10 coins rather than that of a larger batch.
20 Oz of silver + Minting charge ~ $450
Dies ~ $500
Paying whoever designed the coin ~ ?$
Shipping
Premium added
Total cost/10 makes them expensive to begin with. The market being exactly what it is, its not a huge deal that you were willing to find someone uhh... gullible enough to pay $450. But the stealth sale to premium customers, as you have seen from others comments was probably not the greatest move. Perhaps next time, if you want to give premium customers a perk without getting the masses up in arms with their pitch forks, maybe tell them about the coins before they come out or maybe offer them priority pick of which they want, but saying "Hey look at what I made, you can't have any" is kind of meh.
Not that I don't understand, if I had to take a guess, I'd say this limited batch of premium coins was your way of covering the expenses of having the new holograms made. I just got quoted $5k for the ones I'm trying to design.
I suspect that the dies are more expensive than that because there's probably 1 or 2 sets at most.  Limited number of dies will cost an arm and a leg wrt a limited strike.  The blanks ordered in small quantities are also super expensive etc... etc...   Bottom line is that low production runs for precious metal coins are insanely expensive.

CryptoImperator,  Please ignore these ridiculous temper tantrums and keep doing what you are doing.  I hope you have gotten some PMs from others who don't want to post here but support you 100%.

I dont think that my post was all that negative, short of saying that it probably wasn't a wise business decision, mainly because I don't care. I'm just curious as to how you are getting dollar figures for custom dies since you have both made a point of correcting my figure to further your point. Its about $300 to have a single steel die made. If they were having more made, the price would go down, not up. I've only been in contact with a handful of die makers, probably five or so, and my approximation was just that. (note that all of my figures had ~)

My point was that it is expensive to have limited batches of coins done, the premium is absurd (in my opinion), but thats for the customers to decide. Obviously, if they are priced "too high" people won't buy them, the fact that 9 of 10 of them have sold seems to mean that people are willing to pay $450 for the CI 2 Oz Anniversary coin.

I was just mildly interested in seeing how people would react to CI's decision, but it just looks like personal stuff going on now. Thats pretty lame, leave the thread for people who actually want to comment in one way or another.

*edit* In the time I spent writing this post, more fights between members has broken out. If you don't want your spam deleted, I'd recommend deleting it yourself. I'll happily clean this thread up for CI in a few minutes, but I figured I'd give you guys a chance to fix it yourself.

I found your comment to be positive and correct... I don't think it's a negative comment at all.  My knowledge of dies and their costs is from Morgan dollars and  modern coins from US Mint.  I don't know what CI paid, but your point is valid:  dies are very expensive!  it depends how he has them made and where etc...

I like how the coin looks, I'm not as happy about the price though, but as it is exclusive I can understand production costs increasing. I would have liked to see perhaps closed auctions for previous customers as a better way to distribute this one but each to their own.

Can't we all just be friends? Cheesy

No need to bash each other, but voicing opinions should always be fine, especially on this forum. As there is a lot of talks about free markets etc. It should go both ways, not only for the sellers.

Now, you might have stated this already CI but when will the auction for the 10th coin be held?

All personal vs personal comments have been removed. Please keep conversation to topics related to the OP. I didn't touch anything that referenced CI, their product, or their decisions. Nor did I touch anything that responded to those replies either. Personal attacks aren't really necessary. If you have opinions on someone else's opinion about something thread related, thats fine.

Its unfair to clutter CI's thread with personal stuff. Fight it out via PM or in a thread you own if you would like.

thenewanon's post is wayyyyy too appropriate to delete. Its a little spammy, but it poses no risk of dragging the topic offtopic, so I'm leaving it.

Thanks @SaltySpitoon for cleaning the thread, please, lets avoid fighting about personal issues here.

We hope than the main issue is now settled and resolved (to a certain point), if you have any concern please don't hesitate to PM/email us or post here.

@minerjones, your reaction is perfectly understandable, no hard feelings towards you or anyone else who posted his thoughts Smiley

Regarding the coin auction, it will be posted, per popular request, during this week.

I will not PM you with other accounts, double check via mail or Twitter that you are dealing with the correct account. Be careful, I will not send you any links.

Very nice coin. My initial reaction to the coin is that the premium would be lower then $450, although I am clearly wrong based on the fact that 90% of the inventory of the coin was sold at that price without even listing the coin for sale publicly.

The OP is not running a charity, and at the end of the day, his goal is to turn a profit for his business dealings. The OP will try to set the price for his coin so that he will maximize his profit -- if his price is too high then not many people will want to buy his coin, if his price is too low, then he is giving up potential profits when his coins sell very quickly.
