last night at about Midnight the GUI miner stopped mining. I restarted the computer to see what was up. Now I can not connect to any of my pools. Slush, BTC guild, and BTCmine. They all say connection problems. When I try to start the standard wallet miner (3.22 or 3.21) it says that it can not connect to the Bitcoin RPC. What am I doing wrong.

It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.

KISS method first -

... is the PC online?  Can you reach Google in a web browser?

Do you have some weird firwall rules in Windows Firewall, TrendMicro, Norton, etc "security" packages?

Try to ping the websites you cannot access. (win-R, type "cmd", type "ping examplewebsite.com")
If that fails to connect, you have an internet problem or the site is down.

If that succeeds, try redownloading and restarting the guiminer client.

Are you behind a router or is you system plugged directly into the Internet?
Have you reset everything? packet loss usually indicates network issues. Do you have another system you could try pinging from?

Can you go into the the admin-interface of bitcoin.cz to get your IP adress whitelisted? Afterwards set the url in your miner to api.bitcoin.cz and try again.

for slush try the new address and get your ip whitelisted as mentioned.

another thing that kept happening to me was I would shut down gui miner without saving my profile so when I would restart the password would be incorrect.  sounds simple but you never know.

ok I tried reloading everything = nothing
I tried plugging it directly into the modem rather then through the router internet worked great but still = Nothing
triple checked all the PW and user name settings = nothing.

I am running out of thoughts.

I am about to try whitelisting the IP address.

something else I notesed is the Bitcoin Wallet at the bottom says, "warning: displayed transactions may not be correct! you may need to upgrade, or other nodes may need to be upgraded"

Got it. For some reason the As soon as I reentered the API key for each of the pools it fired back up as if nothing was wrong.
SomeoneWeird got the coin for giving me something to think about it.
