No. Nobody is to dictate whether this man has value or not besides the individuals who are capable of donating themselves. If people want to donate to this guy for just existing, so be it.

A parasite is only an individual who takes by force. A beggar isn't forcing anyone to donate.

I don't like beggers but don't they have a place in a Free Market?  The market will decide if begging is worthwhile venture.  Hopefully this market says it is not.

In a free market, everyone is free to set a price for the goods and services they provide. It does not matter if someone else thinks this price is too high.

You might think that OP isn't providing a service, but some other Bitcoin enthusiast might think differently. He might choose to donate bitcoins to many newbies in an effort to foster widespread adoption of the currency. That Bitcoin benefactor thinks he is receiving something of value, and in a free market he is free to pay whatever he wants for it. Both the seller (beggar) and the buyer (donor) are free to deal as they please.

The danger in barring OP from setting his own price on his own goods and services is simple: later, someone else might use a similar justification to bar an activity you wish to engage in. Imagine someone saying, "Targus, this thing you are trying to sell is worthless! I am offended that you are trying to sell it, and I will lobby for a ban on it!"

maybe us newbies should make a thread where we swap around the smallest transferable amount.
Ie, I donate to the person above me in the thread.

I don't want to beg but I would like to do a transaction before I buy just so I know how to do it and how it works

Someone needs to come up with a site where you can do some simple task to earn a small amount of bitcoins like 0.02 BTC for a 15 minute mind numbing task so people can spend 15 to 30 minutes to earn some BTC to play around with. Maybe myfirstbitcoins website or something like that. I want some bitcoins, but I'm not good at asking for handouts. I'm also not comfortable having my computer mine. They have some bitcoin job sites out there but they all seem like tasks that require major programming skills and a major time commitment.

I don't think begging is wrong personally. A bit demeaning and annoying though, and I can't imagine it works too well, especially when nobody knows you!

I'm somewhat of a libertarian, so everyone has the right to beg as long as they do not use force.

People that panhandle make more money per day typically than the average working American. Great strategy sir.

Begging is OK, but don't expect anybody to send you any BTCs. If you want to get some bitcoins without setting up a miner, then you could go mining in your browser. It takes very long and is not very effective, but you could use a computer in your office, while you are working (Do beggars work usually?).

Here is a page to mine with your browser: bitcoinplus.com. Good luck and don't expect tons of bitcoins...

Guilt definitely isn't a coercive force on any level.
