Hello!

Why are you using the altcoin that you are currently using?

What benefits do an altcoin have compared to BTC?

I wonder why we would like to have altcoins when we have BTC already.

1) No fees.
2) Quantum-secure.
3) More scalable then blockchain based coins.

For all my purchases and for any online transaction I only use bitcoin as I have much knowledge about that coin and have believe on it but still I am using some altcoins and that are only for earning money with that through trade as in altcoin trade I often double my invested amount of bitcoins within a few hours or days etc.

I don't know exactly what altcoin you're talking about...?

My favorite is probably DOGE, with Dash being a close second.  I don't think either one of them is better than bitcoin, but what I do like about both of them is that transactions tend to not get stuck in the blockchain.  You know when the bitcoin network gets clogged, you have to wait hours for confirmations.  That stuff never seems to happen with either Dash or Doge.  And I realize that this is likely due to their relative unpopularity, but still.

Why are you using the altcoin that you are currently using?

nobody is really "using" any altcoin because there is not really any "use cases" for any of them. even the altcoin giants like litecoin have no real usages (i think ltc is accepted here and there) and other altcoins like XMR may be used in darkmerket these days but the rest have absolutely 0 usage.

the same reason as above pump and dump. as a trader you love a volatile market where you can make the most profit if you can predict it of course.

Weak hands have been complaining about missing out ever since bitcoin was $1 and never buy the dip.
Whales are those who keep buying the dip.

I wonder why we would like to have altcoins when we have BTC already.
-To overcome the problems bitcoin has.
-Freedom for devs to implement their own ideas.
-Scalable and actual efficiency in the real world economy.
-If I feel I want to have my own coin for the services I provide, maybe for easy maintenance or to establish standards,I always can.

I like Burst.
The "Proof of Capacity" mining method uses free hard drive space to mine coins and needs much less power than other coins to mine.
It's an interesting approach. "Green" mining that doesn't require a ton of GPU or ASIC running all day generating a ton of heat is an interesting idea.

The dev team has integrated a lot of things into the wallet- mining/ faucets/ and lots of plans for the future.
They have a lot of cool ideas for sure.

Hello!

Why are you using the altcoin that you are currently using?

What benefits do an altcoin have compared to BTC?

I wonder why we would like to have altcoins when we have BTC already.

altcoins are alternatives to bitcoin and i like and follow a couple of them only because i see some "different" features that may or may not be good but i find them interesting.

i can't really say i am using these coins because using them means there is someplace to spend in my opinion.

and about the benefits of alts i have to say their benefit for me was only more money in my pocket!

Well, this altcoin give me some sizable gains, because I use to play trading.

altcoin tersbut I can get in large quantities, so when I sell it, it can make me a profit, especially with the high prices

because altcoin is one of the excellent invetasi

Same here, I only use/buy alternative coins or altcoins for trading. AFAIK I never used an altcoin to buy stuff online  Grin Just for trading only, and I like it because I gain from my trading. So far there are many stable altcoins from exchanges you can choose where you can invest and hopefully profit from it.

My favourite altcoin is Monero. I like it because of the anonymity it provides. Much more than Bitcoin do.

How does Monero provide more anonimity than BTC? It's the first time I'm reading this one.

I can see your point, but if people start to invest into Burst mining, won't its mining difficulty go up just like at BTC? Then why would people choose Burst instead of BTC? People who can afford to invest into GPU / ASIC mining, could afford to invest into "Proof of Capacity", too, they would just buy HDDs instead of GPU / ASIC. Then what's the benefit of this concept?

Hello!
Why are you using the altcoin that you are currently using?

I use altcoins only because I want to have more bitcoin in the end when bitcoin price went to the moon. so I trade them and make profit on my bitcoins.

Quote
What benefits do an altcoin have compared to BTC?

the altcoins on their own as a coin have some very small benefits which I mostly don't care about except 2 coins that I follow and hold for long term (LTC and XMR)

the rest are for trading.

I just think the altcoin are offering different offers from bitcoin, like the development of new ideas are implemented into the altcoin and that's why the altcoin are different with bitcoin especially the dev are always active for developing their coin, and the volatility are much better than bitcoin. I just using ETH.

Hello!

Why are you using the altcoin that you are currently using?

What benefits do an altcoin have compared to BTC?

I wonder why we would like to have altcoins when we have BTC already.

Many so called alt coins are like a testbed for implementing new ideas and trying things out instead of playing with the Bitcoin network. Personally I like Dash with its governing model and instant confirmations (~1.5 sec). I have used both BTC and Dash for buying things online, but BTC is still the most adopted in the tiny world of cryptocurrency payments. In a year things might be different as Dash is going towards a Paypal like platform, so we might see a major uptake in merchant adoption.

In my opinion, the main problem with Bitcoin is how hard it is to reach consensus in terms of development and implementation. SegWit looks like it could help solve some scaling problems that the network is facing, but what good does it do if 95% of the network cannot agree to use this or not.

Dash solves these problems by letting the larger stake holders cast a vote and decide the direction of the network, providing guidance for the lead developers as what to implement and how to build the Dash network.

Well it is kind of obvious, asic manufactors focus on one thing and one thing only sha 256, only a few companies are out there that focus on that, they mine internally and give the scraps later to the average user. Hard drives regardless of mining are used by every single computer out there (this is counting flash memory as well), many companies already exist to make these, there won't be the issue of self mining and home miners not being able to get hardware, if somehow this did create an increase in technology everyone regardless of mining would benefit. Power also is an issue, sure people could stack hard drives and data servers but a 6.5w to 9w for each typical 3.5inch hard drive. The antminer s9 consumes 1274w, you could have 141 hard drives compared to a single S9 (this is means home miners are able to attempt to compete on an average circuit).

So cool! Thank you alot! Thanks to your explanation I do not only obtained a better understanding about the benefits of Burst and got an example of the benefits of altcoins to BTC, but obtained a high level of interest, too, in Burst. I will have to check this altcoin out. I have access to free electricity, but getting asics are kinda difficult where I currently live. But I could get HDDs and could obtain the blessing of time if I start to mine it now and its price increases later in trading.
