It is a two-way fight between the pro-Russian candidate Igor Dodon and the NATO puppet Maia Sandu. Dodon is likley to win the first round, but it is not clear whether he will be able to win more than 50%, thereby avoiding the runoff.

Dmitrii Ciubașenco is likley to split some of the pro-Russian votes. If that happens, then it will be difficult for Dodon to get to the 50% mark.

I'm sure there will be a second round of elections. None of the candidates receive 50% of the votes. I hope that Moldova will make the right choice.

If in this election will join Europe or America, the Russian candidate is not likely to be. Another thing is if Putin has a deal in Europe and he gave Moldova.

As expected, the pro-Russian votes were split by Dumitru Ciubașenco.

Here are the priliminary results:

1. Igor Dodon – 48,8%
2. Maia Sandu – 37,8%
3. Dumitru Ciubașenco – 6%
4. Iurie Leancă – 3,2%
5. Mihai Ghimpu – 1,9%
6. Valeriu Ghilețchi – 1,1%
7. Ana Guțu – sub 1%
8. Maia Laguta – sub 1%
9. Silvia Radu – sub 1%

Dodon could have easily won the first round with more than 50% of the votes, had Ciubașenco dropped out from the race. Now oligarchs such as Vladimir Plahotniuc will rig the second round, to help their puppet Sandu win the runoff.

The second round will take place on November 13, and the fight will be between Igor Dodon and Maia Sandu. It is advantage Sandu, as all the pro-NATO candidates have united behind her. On the other hand, the other pro-Russian candidates (Dumitru Ciubașenco & Maia Laguta) are refusing to support Dodon. Turnout also will be very important.

Elections are already underway for the second round. It is a direct fight between the pro-Russia candidate Igor Dodon and the pro-NATO candidate Maia Sandu. Opinion polls indicate that Dodon may win the elections, thereby giving pro-Russians a powerful voice in Moldova after a long interval. The Orthodox church has also come out in his support.

There is a breakaway region called Transnistria (officially, Pridnestrovian Moldavian Republic or PMR), which is predominantly inhabited by Russians and Ukrainians. The residents of PMR are not participating in the elections. There is another ethnic minority region called Gagauzia (inhabited by ethnic Gagauz). They are still part of Moldova. In addition to this, there is a majority Bulgarian region called Taraclia.

Igor Dodon leading with 57.52% of the vote, with 73.43% counted. He needs to win less than 30% of the remaining vote to win the election. The live results can be seen here:

If Dodon wins, then he will be the second pro-Russian candidate to be elected today (Rumen Radev became the Bulgarian president a few hours back).
