Something I do when assembling a miner is to use an eraser on all the contacts to remove any oils or corrosion/oxidation. I suppose a normal pencil eraser would work in a pinch, but I always keep stand-alone erasers on hand. You know.......the rectangular erasers an inch or so wide and a couple of inches long and maybe 3/8th thick.
Do you mean rubber eraser?

My Sapphire 280x toxic cards continue to hang almost every hour or two. I tried every possible settings for power, clocks, intensity, VM set to 24 GB and nothing works. Most of the cases -wd 1 or -r 0 options manage to restart the miner but sometimes the zecminer window is frozen, I can't even manually or with killing with the task manager close it. Is there a script that can recognize when a zecminer window is not responding and then restarting the windows? I know that -r 1 can restart but I don't want to do it so often. It will waste too much time since in 4 out of 5 cases -r 0 does the job.

I'm working on something like this but this will be a dedicated miner hardware to do the job Smiley

Thank you for your tip. I have similar problem like ivomm and will definitely try this if only reassembling does not help. I have 3 rx470, 1 rx480 and 1 hd7950. HD7950 hangs in OpenCl after an hour and whole miner freezes.

Running v12.4 ZEC on Win7x64 with 4 AMD cards -  none show up with a GPU temp. The miner is hashing correctly, just not showing temp in Miner or Miner Manager. I have 15.2 downloaded, however the current version is 17.10

Do you think the issue is with the newer drivers?

I have the same driver on ETH v12.4 and the temp reports correctly, though it is running on Win10x64

Any ideas?

Hello!

ETHMAN.exe's source code avaliable somewhere?
I want to communicate with the miner but not with a browser client that always refreshes the miners window.
Is there some documentation how can i read only the json response, and how can i send commands to the miner?

Thanks!

If anyone can give some information on how to undervolt I would be very grateful.

Saphire rx470 8gb cards.

Here is what I do to get 28MHs+ on my MSI RX470 gaming X 4gb Hynix .  (Find out what type of chip you have in the GPU - You do different processes for each)

1) In ATIwinflash save your base bios:  Open atiwinflash and hit save.  Save the file.

2) Strapping:  Open Polaris Bios Editor and on the timing (MHz) copy the 1500 data to the three settings larger than 1500. On Samsung you will copy the 1750 timing to the larger values.  Watch this video that shows you how to strap.  I did the same method:  https://youtu.be/OP_zSP2H6ho  This will get you 23.5mhs per gpu.

2) On the MSI Afterburner I set the Memory Clock to 2000 and the Core Clock to 1150(up to about 1275) and press the check(Apply).  This should get you the 28mhs.

3) Now I go to WattTool and look at the numbers for each gpu individually.  In this case for gpu "0:Radeon (TM) RX 470 Graphics" look at the mV number in "R7" = 1150mV.  I do not want this number less than 1000mV.  This is just my preference.  Look at the Voltage Offset.  Whatever number you put in here it will be multiplied x 6.25 so, 20 x 6.25 = 125.  1150 - 125 = 1025mV(which is above 1000)  so this one would be -20 and then click "Set"  This gpu should now produce much lower watts.

4) Go to the next gpu and evaluate the number and make the changes in the Voltage Offset based upon the mV number in "R7."  Each gpu will be different.

Good Luck

Let me know if you have more questions.

Can I undervolt without messing around with the polaris bios editor?

I am happy with the speed, just want to undervolt.

Thanks for the information, I will give it a go.

Yes, just start at step 3

Nice tutorial. Thanks

What I 've seen is that when you don't have a card connected to a monitor, the miner works although you cannot use all the AMD features (like MSI Afterburner).. Probably if you try to open AMD Radeon settings you'll see that cannot be opened due to there's any monitor connected.

W10 64b ¦ AMD 17.3.1 (happened the same with previous versions..)

True, all GPU's are on risers and when I try to open Radeon settings it says no cards are connected. Thanks for the reference point.

easy way to undervolt, is just use msi afterburner.  of course change the mem straps for higher speeds first though.  Just look at your voltage in the monitor window, and drop that baby down as much as you can.  if it crashes, no biggie, just bring it a little higher.  changing the core clock will change the .states so the voltage will be different and will have to be played with again.

Is AMD R9 390X faster than 390 at the same core/memory frequency?

It is.
MSI 390 @1135/1500 gives 415 H/s
MSI 390X @same gives 425 H/s

Both stock bios, wattage not measured.

Thanks a lot.

So it seems that 390X is just 2% faster but it has 10% more cores.

Can you measure the power with GPUZ. It is not accurate, but it gives us some indication.

Sorry... forgot to report back on "latest AMD drivers". Anyways, I tested your miner with my RX 460 - using the latest drivers (17.x.x)
Together with dwarfpool... And whalla! it worked... I made over 0.01 zcash in one day alone (I get just over 150 sol/s)

Thanks Claymore!
