Hi all,

May I ask for a little advice - I have been mining zec for 6 months now.  I have 6GPU's - a mixture of 7970's and 7950's.

Am I still better mining Zcash or should I switch back to Ether? - I remember reading somewhere that ethereum mining uses less power?

any advice appreciated.

thanks

ZEC uses less power, *AND* you will definitely see better return on the 7970 (and probably the 7950) on ZEC.
Also, not sure if your 7950 CAN mine ETH any more - is it 2GB or 3GB?
2 GB cards CAN'T mine ETH as the DAG file is too large.

I don't have a 7970 - but I do have R9 280x which was the same GPU paired with a little faster (by default) ram and has pretty much the same performance on mining.

Hi,

Many thanks for this.  The results on whattomine.com show that Zec is better for 7970 and 7950 so that concurs with your advice.

I will stick to mining Zec for now.  I may invest in some 480's eventually and start mining some ether again.

I switched back to v 12.4 after seeing there is no improvement in hash rate while temperature is higher for my two fury X cards.

We had similar problems with one of the 480 strix cards, it just won't mine( crashes the system after a while). Gaming is fine on it, but it just won't mine without issues.

I was not able to find solution.

What's up with my HD 7950? Why is it so fast and 65C LOL! This card is beating both the HD 7970 and the R9 280X (this has more cores for dogs sake), I think it even mined BTC at one point.

There's no point in mining ETH or ETC due to large DAG size and the ~50% reduced hashrate with Tahiti chips but you can make exactly the same profit mining MUSIC, UBQ and EXP as you do mining Zcash and company.

I mine the ZEC with the Tahiti. It is more profitable.

Dear Mr. Claymore
Could you include in the next version of asm an optimization for
Bonaire (Radeon R7 260X, Radeon HD 7790)
As far as I understand they are not much different from Pitcairn
Except the width memory bus  and (896/1024 ps Unit)
Not so much Bonaire is weaker to forget about them.
Bonaire should be closer to Hawaii (290 et al) than Pitcairn. Same idea though, although the core count to bus ratio doesn't come close.

No problem, you need to expect to reach the minimum to receive the default is 0.01.

running 3 4g 470s until more risers come but only 1 xfx card modded & 2 asus' stock but running 790ish give or take a few sols... is this normal(good or bad?)?  Also pretty sure nanopool just had a run of bad luck but should I have an allpools setting in place, I dont now.. guess after mining sha256 w/btc and ppc i just have loyalty to a single pool normally and in this case nanopool after normally mining eth w ethos.. thanks in advance and ty for the work you have done for us all Mr. Claymore sir. I hopped on the zec wagon a few days ago after getting str8 fomo.. Also prob picking up a few r9 280s tom and maybe a 1070 or 2 by end of weekend so might be runnin w zec for time to come,  Thanks in advance for any answers comment or suggestions, gday..

Using this miner with my RX480 Saphire to mine HUSH coin, getting 290-300 H/s, just wanted to ask how to use CPU as well... anyone is familiar with additional settings for CPU mining as well or this miner is for GPU only and I should run additional miner (nheqminer for example) ... ?
