Why this coin uses equihash as PoW algorithm? Why doesn't it use others such as Lyra2, scrypt, SHA256, X11, etc? I am mainly interested in the technical reasons behind this choice. I know there are aspects of asic mining, but maybe there are more reasons...

I am not an expert either but I heard that Equihash is better to keep the ASIC miners away from getting control over the hash rate and this will keep zclassic CPU and GPU friendly. Correct me if I am wrong.
