Let me get this straight,

The zcash founders were entrusted with keys to print as many zcash as they wanted. Now they've went on record of destroying these keys. But no one will ever know how much was ever printed beforehand because there's absolutely no way to tell. They could in effect have an unlimited supply and no way to verify.Huh?

But is there any proof that new coins being created besides those mined? With zerocash protocol, is there any way for a 3rd party to verify the total coins outstanding? With the fact they take 20% of mining, I don't see the need for them to steal more coins.

I don't think the issue is with zclassic. Isn't it a new chain? But no, there is no way to verify that 10billion coins were created before keys were destroyed.

8 people would have had to collude during the creation ceremony including peter todd.  If they destroyed the keys as they say no coins can be created outside of schedule.

If even one of them actually succeeded in destroying their part of the key and any means to reconstruct it, then no one can create any covert coins without hacking the cryptography itself or some such extreme scenario.

I don't think there will ever be any way to verify that this was done successfully. Although it is hard to imagine that it wasn't given how much was riding on it and the level of expertise of the guys entrusted with doing it. I feel pretty sure at least one of them did manage to destroy their part with no trace left at all. It seems likely that several of them will have succeeded imo.

A Solo Mining Pool for ZCL like how ZEC already has would be great, I would try my luck there Grin

Here's what ZEC offers for Solo Mining:

http://www.luckpool.org/#!/coin/ZCASH

http://www.zogpool.org/#!/coin/ZEC

Maybe someone could setup & host one for the ZCL Community ? Granted they get a small fee per block hit, a bit like -CK's BTC Solo Pool.

Here's the Tools to do so:

ZCash and ZClassic solo mining stratum with Web interface.

  • Your personal solo ZCash & ZClassic stratum
  • Rigs availability monitoring
  • Keep track of accepts, rejects, blocks stats
  • Easy detection of sick rigs
  • Daemon failover list

Public binary release with devfee https://github.com/sammy007/zcash-proxy/releases

feel like organizing a few group lottery runs?

hmmmm, let's see.

Ability to be able to have as much fucking money as possible without anyone ever knowing.

8 different people you say.....

Access to "potentially" a fucking golden goose that will keep on laying them gold eggs.

Am sure, these 8 "outstanding" individuals did not feel tempted to collude at all.....

No, No.....NEVER.....

¯\_(ツ)_/¯

All good things take time. Imagine how hard it was for Bitcoin? This coin isn't even a month old yet and look at the progress.
I have no problem paying for these coins. The dev's and miners deserve it. I have very little doubt this will catch the eyes of the ZCash people who will feel quite foolish when all is said and done. Just my opinion and my belief.

This differs from ZEC, developers simply do not have money for development and promotion of project. Price will probably continue to fall if Bitcoin will start to grow again.

Is there any price speculations for zclassic ? if yes someone should kindly point me toit because i am not comfortable with the current price after buying a lot of it at 0.0022 btc.
I need to know whether to dump or hold because the zclassic market is is in deep red.

The dev must update this thread, upload the new logo, make this community alive again despite of continue fall of this coin, we must do something for it, I don't lose hope of this coin, anyway im not a holder, im just a small miner that has captured by this coin.. I hope it will go green again..

No offense, and I know people are fast to call you a fudder.

I've been watching ZCL for days in hope it would find a floor for trading purposes but it's still on it's way ever since. On Bittrex it's 10 BTC away from hitting the 1 sat floor.

To be perfectly honest I just noticed the trend and googled for a bitcointalk thread to see what's up.
You don't have to listen to me, but I'd rather sell now. Re-buy at the floor, wait for it to go up a bit and sell for ever.
This thing is going straight to Yobit.

PS.: I just noticed your post because I was googling and hoped I would be a help.

8 people will collude sounds hard, but the fact is that all these people may know each other, that would make it not so hard to do... There's always the aspect of the real world, people are related to each other.
