It would be great if a European distributor - import duties are absolutely crippling!

Unless the new self-courier service from minerwarez has some scope to "ease" the import tax value

What are you talking about?

There are no import duties for EU, just Vat and the usual shippers handling fees. Any European distributor will have to still pay VAT on imports and will just pass it on and add it to the price.

The only way to mine without VAT is nog to Import Chinese miners Into the EU. Have them shipped to a hosting company in the US or China or Iceland or just anywhere without VAT on imports.

"Just" VAT is 20% - $180 per miner! + there is an import duty, albeit ~3-5% (can't remember which one).

I might actually have a look into hosting companies, although i don't know much about it so i'll have a read up  Grin

If you decide to go with a hosting company also think wisely about their location as well.  My hosting company happens to be in the same city as Miner Warez so I got hit with a 6.5% WA State Tax + 1.7% Municipal Tax

That's not import duty that's just the handling fees from the carrier. There should be no import duties unless the sender screwed up the paperwork. I know how much UK VAT is (its actually different in different EU countries)

The point I was trying to make is that a reseller will still have to pay the VAT and then will also have to charge VAT when selling within the EU, plus they will add a markup to cover their own costs of stocking, staffing and supporting the business, they will also have to make enough to cover their Corporation tax they pay to the local goverment on their profits, so a local EU distributor will do nothing for the prices here and you will probably end up paying a lot more than if you purchased direct.

The benefit from EU distributor will be a faster response if a problem with the hardware occurs. At the moment if I have a faulty hardware have to send it to the other end of the world. China or US doesn't matter. the process would take probably a month or so. That is the main reason to choose Avalon. They are way better in reliability.
My first order was from canaan directly to Bulgaria and I paid 20% VAT plus I believe 4% import duties. My second order was from Minerwares to UK and then another shipper to Bulgaria. Did not paid any VAT. Saved myself approximately 400$ for 2 pieces.

Hardware problems are going to be expensive for a EU area distributor, because the EU declares that you need to provide a two year warranty for sold products.

Canaan warranty is only 90 days.

Plus the distributor is going to have to buy the parts from China, again the costs savings will be negligable, however yes, I agree if the distributor sets up a good shop for repairs then the downtime and loss of income will be significantly lower.

As for shipping from Minerwarez to UK and then from UK to Bulgaria and avoiding VAT, I think you were just lucky. Normally anything going into the UK will be subject to 20% VAT unless you lied on the invoice. Risky.

Hi,

I read somewhere in this forum that if you point your Avalon to nicehash, the cgminer will restart itself more often than other pool.

Could someone advise me how do I tell that the miner restart itself not because other things like hardware problem, AUC problem, cable problem.

Is there someone ever mine on any pool and the miner never restart itself?
Also what things that will make cgminer restart itself?

Thank you.

I mine on nicehash and have never experience a restart unless I told it to.
I have also mined on Kano and Slush with no issues.
You might have another problem if it's restarting itself.

I highly doubt the S9s will be Bitmain's newest model for long. Its pretty much a year old at this point.
and how long s9 will live, from your opinion?

US is a great country - they even don't apply VAT and big import taxes on the miners  Grin    Paid $9 for a miner some time ago.   Cheesy

avalon will release a

14th 1300 watt model

about 1400-1500 usd

Maybe on my birthday in late Jan

Am I the only one with info on this?

If true this would be a little better then the s-9

I was pretty clear in the mail that this was a notional spec used for forecasting. I will probably  go live with the real specs  at
   the end of the month.

I bought a lemon A6, and honestly there is NOOOOOOOOO support what so ever.

if it wasn't for you guys on this forum I would have been SOL and truthfully thats a turn off for me
No maker of miners supports miners that older than the current generation they sell. They are not made in sufficient numbers to allow for stockpiling of spare parts.

As we enter EOL for the 7 series I am making an order for Spares.

Just to be clear. There will be an announcement for the real spec of the upcoming miner at the end of the month or the actual miner will be released at the end of the month?
