The Bitcoin network protocol was designed to be extremely flexible. It can be used to create timed transactions, escrow transactions, multi-signature transactions, etc. The current features of the client only hint at what will be possible in the future.

As a S.DICE investor, I thank you.

As a compassionate human, I am sorry for your loss.

We live in such conflicting times.
Yeah. That's the way she goes.

I feel ya, I lost 1 bitcoin earlier on. I can't believe how some people can recover from losing 500 bitcoins (someone recently lost about that much I saw on the sdice statistics thread)

I've often wondered if many of the larger bets aren't just bots run by the site itself to attract attention. TX fee is a small price to pay to appear to inflate share prices and increase popularity! (No, I don't actually think this is going on, but I can't say it wouldn't cross people's mind if they were running it)

I suppose that would be a very nice way to run the business considering only 10% of the shares are owned by private investors.

Id bet more of if you have to many transactions coming in from the same address winning, you lose.

Bitcoin has indeed been the best investment of all bitcoin related investments so far. That said, some people do get lucky on SD.

just go to a casino in vegas sometime and watch dozens of people piss away THOUSANDS of dollars in a night..

gambling is gambling, this is just a different currency and IMO a FAR more boring way to do it.

if you are going to gamble, might as well do it in a casino.

I started with 0.1. I made it to 0.2 playing over a week and 200 transactions later. Then it went down to 0.04. Then I made it go back up to 0.2. After 400 transactions later, I lost it all in a do-or-die bet, the final bet was 0.04 or something like that.

You could always just do one single bet of 100 BTC on 91% and win 107 BTC. You have a 9 in 10 chance of gaining 7 BTC. But you also have a 9% chance of losing.

Ya, I dropped $200 in the casino a few months ago. Lost it all playing blackjack. I usually do pretty well.

I also lost $1200 worth of Bitcoins a few days ago by selling at $99 and buying back at $120.

That will teach me not to sell. Ever.

Pfff whatever man. I lost like 20 BTC on stupid GEM games. I mean, you CANTget more stupid than THAT.

Although others have lost much more, I think the lesson is clear.

If you want to gamble, play some poker. Its a skill game - not some mindless horsecrap like dice or roulette.

If you lose, at least you lose to another player who might lose back to you in the future. With house games, the house ALWAYS wins.

I don't understand how a gambling game can be so popular in such a mathematics-oriented community. Surely everyone here is able to see that E(X) < 0?  Tongue
