How to generate a wallet address ?

Ok so I`m totally new to this and spent most of yesterday waiting for Bitcoin-Qt to sync,

Now it has synced, the instructions said to click 'New' for a wallet address, but there is no new button in any menu / ui

I've downloaded GuiMiner which lets me enter my worker login for Slush's pool, and it says its mining, but I don't have a wallet address to enter in my account or wallet

Which step have I missed ?

EDIT - Just clicked in "Receive Bitcoins" and found my wallet address, I assume thats that right one ?

yes from "Receive Bitcoins" panel you can also create a new one

So, now I have my wallet open and synced, and guiminer running and mining, and my wallet address entered in my account at mining.bitcoin.cz is that everything I need to do? And just leave it running now ?
