Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

The gekko is indeed good to start as it teaches you the basics of mining for a cheap cost, but a better way is to buy the Antminer S7-LN imo- it's relatively cheap and has all the basics included- psu, miner, you just need an ethernet cable to mine. Gekkos can be found on eBay, but at a relatively high price.

Don't mine with your pc for bitcoin- it's ineffective and will burn your PC.

Using your personal computer for mining bitcoins hasn't been an effective way of doing it for many years at this point, and I'm not sure that USB miners have ever been "profitable". If you want to get started with bitcoin you better start looking into some solar panels for your home to kill electricity cost and have a chunk of cash to throw at miners to actually generate a significant amount of coinage.

Solar is a huge investment and you'd be better off without it; wind is also like solar, but with even more inconsistency. It's not worth the investment most of the time. Adding together the cost of investment and the power actually generated, cost per kilowatt will be higher in most cases than if you actually just mined without alternative energy sources.

At one time they were a huge advance in asic mining.  The original block erupter's were really the only real time people might have been ROI'ing on them.  And that cold vary on if they sold them, and when.  I know I had 50 or 60 going at one time.   All of which I sold eventually.   But was a fun time.

Anymore it really is going to be a lotto machine/learning with usb sticks.  They just cost to much vs the big machines on hash.   So getting started to learn not a bad thing you can also get a RPI and learn a little Linux if not familiar with it.  So lot's of good learning possible for some.  But if profit is what your shooting for I would not look at usb sticks.  With today's asic's it really is kinda all about having cheap electricity.

geez solar panel is really too expensive to build and i don't think its a good solution but yes its should help us to cover electricity cost when we start to mining. for mining bitcoin, you should have at least s9 to get much of bitcoin in a day but i don't know how to calculate the ROI if we use solar panel like bill gator said.

It's nice to play around with, but at that price you're better off buying a U1 or U2 or even Gekkoscience for better $/gh ratio. The heatsink is pretty cheap to get, 3.99$ here- http://www.ebay.com/itm/REPLACEMENT-Block-Erupter-Heatsink-Fits-ASICMINER-USB-Bitcoin-Mine-Heatsink-/281197457561?hash=item4178acb099:g:Hn8AAOxyiRlSb1OH. It helps out with heat if you don't plan on using a heatsink, but I still recommend a fan with any usb miner- they get real hot. I would know, I have around 40GH/S of usb miners. Smiley

USB  bitcoin mining  and  asic hardware  mining  do  really have the difference in speaking   the difference  of   hashrate and as  expected asic miner s9 is the  latest as of now  do have the  highest  hashrate per miner as  of  now which  is really good to  mine  especially when  you do only have  cheap electricity  on your place. Regarding on USB stick mining  i guess its  not profitable  as  of now  because of  the difficulty on  mining  of bitcoin and  i dont know if theres  latest  usb  miners but  i think  its already  phase out . As  members said  here  usb mining  would  really need some  ventilation and  might  burn also  your  PC.

I will not give you a site to buy a USB stick
I will try to convince you to not start mining at all
buy bitcoins instead and hope the price goes up rather then invest in mining gear
it is not worth it,especially with USB sticks you are planning to use
you will not achieve ROI,even with cheap electricity
so go to an exchange, buy coins and store them for a year=the best mining solution Smiley
