WARNING - BTCC sends your balances out in email

I just received an email today from BTCC with my balances (all of them) - not only is this surprising but incredibly insecure (have never heard of a bank sending you all your account balances via email).

If you are a US citizen using BTCC then you might want to carefully consider what to do now (unless you are running your own secured email server you should assume that the IRS now knows your balances at that exchange).

It's always best to buy/sell Bitcoin in person. Most exchanges are not really trustworthy - either they get ''hacked'' and/or they collect and distribute your private information to everyone asking for it or paying enough.

People who are sending copies of their passports to such exchanges are crazy imho. Identity theft and full-spectrum surveillance are only a matter of time. It's sad.

What you said is true about giving personal details and documents to exchanges are risky but even when you are dealing with bitcoin in person is also full of risky more then dealing in exchanges. So it is much preferred to use the local exchanges who are dealing without having to give personal details and documents.

Earning Bitcoin is now easy but buying and selling Bitcoin is becoming Hard as their are so many scam and  cheating ways are moving in exchanges

Most of the trading websites were legit and if you were one among the victim who got trapped by exchange websites then try to make petitions. The petition might help other users to stay away from them. Another thing very few legalized exchange websites were there. Can use that for the goodness.

Well this was bound to happen first coinbase and now this, the irs has been snooping around for a long time and though I am bit surprised they have taken mail route and sending you balance over a mail that's really strange. Have you reported the mail and tried to find out how did you receive it? Has any one else received it or its a one off incident?

But this is obvious because bitcoin is gaining value now so the tax guys come wanting their cut.
This has happened in the old days and will always happen.
