Sessions is best known to me as the one (?) guy who did his job and got off his ass and looked into the TPP which could only be analyzed under carefully controlled circumstances by our own fuckin representatives before they voted on it. He didn't like what he saw and he went out of his way to try to communicate the problems to his peers and 'we the people.' At least that is how I understand things currently. I'm not surprised in the least that Sessions would be anti-encryption and is backwards/wrong on a variety of policies. Beyond that, I've never really seen Trump himself go to bat for civil liberties or much of anything else which limited his powers, and don't expect him to be pro-encryption (or pro-crypto-currency.) I was still quite in favor of Trump's election and am delighted by Sessions' appointment. The main reason is that the alternative (Hillary) was utterly abysmal and every problem I have (or suspect I'll have) with Trump would be much worse under Clinton. At the end of the day, the survival of my country is more important to me than my stake in Bitcoin, encryption, etc, and there is hope that we can turn Trump and his around on some of their backwardness. I'll say again that I believe us to have been much closer to the end than most people suspect, and we are no where near out of the woods yet.

And besides, they can't stop end-to-end encryption done by the users. They can only pressure the service providers. Open source end-to-end encryption will be available. As well the USA can't yet stop service providers abroad.

Well, we will know in the coming years if he would be launching his own version of anti-encryption ideas. But I hope that the Trump administration do understand business and they can instead embrace the digital money trend and instead of putting water to the fire they would encourage it some more. However, this is not as simple as that.

Sadly, I am not at all surprised to see this from Trump. I identified and predicted this weakness as outlined in an earlier post here. Thanks to Infowars for holding Trump's feet to the fire in cases where he is abysmal. https://youtu.be/O7DfDTjRe-s?t=12m36sCivil asset forfeiture seems to be a place where Sessions can prove himself as someone who respects the constitution and can effectively stand up to Trump in the upward direction and his underlings in the downward direction. Or he can fail. --- I am so sick of 'news' outlets who parrot the same idiodic non-sense about Trump. I have yet to see one of the thousands of them even mention the real problems that the guy has. As long as the likes of David Knight are free to call it like they see it I'll continue to buy toothpaste and other overpriced shit from Infowars. If they fall off the wagon, there are other places I can obtain the things I want and need.

So I'm going to laugh if instead of trying to lure business back to America, businesses are likely to curtail business and to transfer it to other countries. And I guarantee that it will.

It's important that Trump opposed him and it's the president that has the last word here not the attorney general. I don't think this will impact Bitcoin in any way. The only thing that can impact it are the decisions that become accepted by the whole chain of command, not things like personal views and opinions of people, who are links in that chain.

Sessions is someone who was picked by Trump based on his views on immigration and how he is going to be hard in the fight against illegal immigration, something that him and President Trump hold very high on their priority list. It's important that Trump opposed him and it's the president that has the last word here not the attorney general. I don't think this will impact Bitcoin in any way. The only thing that can impact it are the decisions that become accepted by the whole chain of command, not things like personal views and opinions of people, who are links in that chain.
Trump will be highly controlling of his cabinet and we know that he won't care at all to go ahead and fire these high ranking people in the cabinet if he feels that they;re being insubordinate to him, as they do report right to him. I will agree with you, none of this will impact bitcoin in the least so it won't hurt us.

Trump is trying to be rigid and totalitarian President. It seems to me that he does not understand that one thing is his personal business where everything is subordinated to his wishes, and another thing is a country where there are many beyond the control of institutions of power.

Agreed, it was looking pretty bad for a while there. I think a practical business type guy like Trump would be a fast learner on crypto currency, and would immediately grasp its use (and its abuse). Hillary would have simply done what Wall Street told her to.

He knows that the Bitcoin sector will grow to a super-giant with a market cap of $100-$200 billion in the near future. If a part of that business stays in the United States, then tens of thousands of jobs can be created, in addition to billions of USD in tax revenues every year.

What jobs can create bitcoin? The blood of the American economy is the dollar and Trump is not interested to lose control of the international currency. What will win the bitcoin is going to lose a dollar.

Um, why? All someone has to do is whisper 'terrorism' in Donald's ear and he'll be out on the white house personally executing every single PGP developer they can get their hands on. Perfectly said. $100-200 billion is fuck all, especially if its existence endorses a lack of government control.

He has stood in direct opposition to end-to-end encryption, citing his experience in law enforcement when calling for government officials to have complete access to encrypted devices.
Earlier this year, Apple remained in a standoff with the FBI over allowing law enforcement agencies access to a locked device owned by a mass shooter in California, a move highly criticized by Sessions. Trump himself also opposed Apple’s stand while on the campaign trail, insisting that the company be boycotted. Do you guys think this will affect the legality of Bitcoin under the Trump administration? I dont think so. Apple was only placed in hot seat its because their encryption was necessary to the case of the California shooter. Without that shooting incident the government will not stood against end-to-end encryption. But bitcoin has not yet shown incidences that it was placed on the hot seat in the USA. If bitcoin users will not use bitcoin in illegal transactions then the government will not mind bitcoin but rather appreciate it.

Bitcoin is also seen as a means for tax evasion, so I don't see why Bitcoin is safe at all from the government.
