You'll find that this kind of logarithmic fall off of post dates for older pages happens even on forums that get the same amount of posts per day over a long period. This is due to how posts are distributed in threads, with many threads being fairly active and having a recent last post time. Each time an old thread gets bumped it removes it from the older page thereby compressing that section, but of course new "old threads" can't be made.
