If its purely for bitcoin mining then no that's not crazy.

If you only want 2 GPUs, find the cheapest dual PCI-E board you can find, preferebly MATX, then a MATX case with good airflow. Cheapest processor to go with cheapest motherboard.

Nice and compact, cheap, replicible. It only really gets complicated if you want something like 2x7990 and a 7970 in 1 machine.
