The price of bitcoin is unpredictable we can not know what will be the price of bitcoin in the future but i think the price of bitcoin will be the same as what price right now but depends if more adoption will come in bitcoin we heard many news about bitcoin like 20 stores in paris are accepting bitcoin as payment brazil 150 stores are accepting bitcoin. Bitcoin banks or any news we are heard right now that can affect population or more users will come that can affect the value of bitcoin.. last few months we heard about 20 store in paris but the price still the same price.. and i think we can see the effect this following 2017 so my estimate i think 1000-1400 dollar per bitcoin..

That $1000 price threshold is somewhat old and recurring prediction for every year since 2013.
Bitcoiners are always wishing that this year will be year when BTC price will reach $1000 and stay there.

i reckon the next 12-18 months are gonna be crunch time regarding bitcoin's usability. if there's no segwit and no other scaling option on the table plus ever rising fees a lot of people might get a little sick of the whole thing. i'll certainly be shopping elsewhere.

if we end up on a clear path to the future then things will look good. if it's more of the same then bitcoin's heading towards a dead end. traders don't care either way in the short term. long term they will.

That $1000 price threshold is somewhat old and recurring prediction for every year since 2013.
Bitcoiners are always wishing that this year will be year when BTC price will reach $1000 and stay there.

Even it is an old prediction now we are in nearly 1k value unlike before we are experience last year that the price is 300 value and its double the price this middle 2016 and the price right now after block halving is increase more to 700 value the another goal is 800 value and 900 value if the price will touch in 800 to 900 value before mid year i think the price will touch to 1k value since we are heard that many adoption are come..

My vote on less than a current value. there is pretty decent chance we see sub $750 Bitcoin in 2017. Unless something dramatically changes in the development and adoption, the next year shouldn't be very different from this one. So yes, some occasional pumps, but stable value should not exceed current levels.

At the moment everything tells us that the price should go up in 2017. Of course surprises are possible, Bitcoin is very volatile but I expect by March 2017 that we achieve 900 to 1000. If some big crashes or hackers attacks don't ruin are wishes and expectations. Some dumps are also very likely in between but hope nothing big.

For all the wishful thinking and pipe dreams of the bears, it's pretty unreasonable for the price to be below $1000 by the end of 2017.

Of course some unforeseen event could drive the price back down to triple digits after it passes the ATH, but as more markets open up (as India has recently) the price has to go up.

You can dream about sugar plums and lower prices to your heart's content but in the real world, Bitcoin is being used as a safe haven for wealth and as an international transfer medium by more people in more countries all the time. To think the price would actually be lower is simply unrealistic.

first of all we can never say these things for 100% but some things are clear. for example price will not be lower than $700 in a year from now assuming nothing horrible happens. so there is only up to go and also going up considering how price has changed in the last 2 years is not going to be some crazy number like $2500 all of a sudden (again if nothing horrible happens).

We are also heard about a news in paris that they added 20 stores accepting bitcoin as payment and i think it should has be impact that the price will increase more because more people right now knows about bitcoin and more stores will be added in other country it can be increase more the value of bitcoin. the adoption right now is increasing but we are halving a problem about the transaction speed the proper fee is not same because the transaction size is always different everytime you transact that already happen to me few days ago. unlike before that i have only 200kb+ size for every transaction before now i am experience to 1mb above..

But these rock solid stable prices may push further to reach there at any time imho.
Around 30 days bitcoin prices are holding above $700 price levels, it means its support levels are too strong to break upper resistances at $760 to $800 levels.
We need to remember here that last time bitcoin took less than 15 days to fly from $700 to $1000 levels.

Anyway, I  think it will more likely to cross 1k USD, with the Segwit and upcoming LN, even though there are lots of controversy in this update, Im sure bitcoin will be hyped and push the price pass to 1k USD, that is if there is no bad press to happen.

That's because people are either gamblers expecting insanely high price levels, or they are just troll voting. Polls here should never be seen as some sort of an indicator or prediction. Funny is that people are loud when their prediction is close to the reality, but at the time they are wrong (which mostly is the case), you don't hear anything from them anymore. Like it never happened.

My choice is not in the poll. Many companies are accepting blockchain technology right now. I expect more and more will follow. 2017 is the year for bitcoin. At the first quarter of 2017 i think the price will rise up to $850 a piece. At the half, $950. And it will stabilize untill it reach the end of 2017.

It is gonna happen, bitcoin will reach $1000, already did - just not globally.
People were paying way above standard 'global' rate for BTC in India recently when Indian government decided to withdrawn 1000 and 500 rupee banknotes.
This move caused huge uproar and Indian citizens flocked to buy BTC, that caused price to go way up to $850.
Similar story happened in Nigeria a week ago - Bitcoin reached $1250 there.

From the information that I got, the price to produce a single Bitcoin, at the moment, is something around 600 USD, so if the price drops it will not be that much.
If improvements like segwit are implemented, I think we'll see some rise, probably this year. After segwit, the price changes next year will depend on adoption, apps like megaupload 2.0, lightning network and such things.

I think that we will surpass 1000$ in the second half of 2017.

I think we need to wait for the activation of Segwit to see the course of price, it seems a hot debate between developers.  This somehow affect the price of bitcoin and it is uncertain if it will affect in positive or negative way.  The uncertainty of price is due to the different stance of the developer regarding this matter.  So in my opinion we can never say if Segwit will boost the price of bitcoin.  So for now i cannot see 1000 USD coming unless Segwit will produce a big hype when it is activated.

Look Price is determined by Supply and Demand.
Demand is determined by CAPITAL FLOWS from competing markets.

Do you guys realize how small $11 Billion is in terms of financial markets? Honestly?

Apple (1 company) is worth $600 Billion dollars.  Paypal ( a completely crap system) is worth $50 Billion and it's totally proprietary.

There is a total of $365 Trillion in world markets including real estate.

Bitcoin is THE ONLY SYSTEM ON PLANET EARTH that is decentralized and trust-less.

Just as a store of Wealth it competes with Gold a $7 Trillion dollar market cap.

The odds of a market cap <$35 Billion next year is LOW..

So take ( $35-$45 Billion / 16 Million ) and this is WORSE CASE SCENARIO price of bitcoin by end of 2017.

If seqwit and LN and a moderate 2mb on chain solution is reached by q1 ro q2 next year this figure will tripple.

I don't want to be rude but I'm a bit miffed at the lack of understanding of Capital Markets and the nature of Bitcoin as an efficient competitor to these markets.

Hope I didn't offend but in my honest opinion you guys should really understand the ramifications of what Bitcoin really is and can do.

But year ends are more surprising than rest of the months of a year especially with respect to bitcoin prices some drastic changes were witnessed at those time in last few years. The main reason would be more money flow among bitcoin users.

My predictions based on last year's festival times would be around $980 price levels for the starting of 2017.

Supply is as is, not reduced nor has been added. It's just that coins are distributed well to different persons worldwide.

Also for how much adoption does it need for bitcoin price to reached $2000 and why 4 years is the expected period for bitcoin price to go $2000? You mean the next halving. If you predict the price could reach $1300 dollar during 2017 then you do not need to wait for four long years to see $2000 and if we look back you could see that the price was around $300 a year back and now it has risen to this level thanks to major economic restrictions from the government and lack of other investment opportunity.

Yes that is the basic design of bitcoin supply system. There will be no stable/constant supply but at the same time the adoption rate of bitcoins is keep on increasing every day. Most probably your predictions will go wrong as once bitcoin will be testing it ATH price levels then it will start attracting more number of new investors as it will be getting more media coverage. Only till getting some initial trigger, it is the problem for bitcoin prices to reach big levels, if it gets then no one will be able to stop it.

I of course hope there won't be any drama as well, but let's face it, so far since Bitcoin's very first exchange listing there has always been some sort of drama popping up from time to time. In fact, i think there is possibility for bitcoin to break even 1500 US dollars, if some unexpected event will happen, however that is something we cannot say that will occur.

I don't think the btc price will start to climb now. We would need a momentum in price to reach a new ATH and beyond. Once we would reach it I would guess that the sky is the limit.

Such a momentum is made from a pressure that is built by a long time of fairly stable price with a lot of uncertainity within the traders, followed by some possitive event that triggers the rocket launch. In this scenario I would bet 2000 $ by the December.

Another possible momentum that could take us to the new ATH could be triggered by a bounce in price after some huge sellout and a panic buyout following it. When that scenario would happen I would bet a sellout in June/July and a panic buyout in month or two following it. The price predictions in the times of panic are pure gamble. But I would guess that the price could reach 3000 $ for a very short time.
