Not "Let the code handle it", but this time "Let the community handle it!!"

This is a pre announcement for an upcoming ICO to take over the XVC project by hiring good devs from ICO funds.

Why this take over?

Because John Connor thinks he can play games with his community. It is time to show him what a community is by taking over the project and finishing it by friendly and good developers.

No coins to divide?

Yes, there are XVC coins...which are very cheap at the moment in the exchange. This is a community take over and that means the community are investors.

Why would this work?

I don't know if this works...i never did this before and i don't know how this will go. But what i do know is that the project is gorgeous, but the former dev had no emotional skills. So i'm trying to find 2-3 devs who can work on this project which will get paid by the ICO funds. And i do this at the moment when this coin is at a very low price. Maybe we can show John Connor that even he needs a community to get something done. You can code like a badass, but if you act like a autistic prick everything you make will fail in crypto world.

How much should be raised?

I don't know. Maybe a discussion how much should be raised is welcome in this thread. Also if it is possible to fork it. But i want to do something, because the code is stunning. And not because i am a bagholder also.

So, let the community decide now. It would be great if we could organise an ICO which attracts developers to work on the code. Because with a good community this code has great potential. And a big middle finger to John.

I've thought about this, but it would be necessary to fork away from "his" code into a trusted coinbase setup as he simply could have coded too many "backdoors" into his code.. It was him obviously very easy possible to fork off pools and bigger miners from "his" chain and make "his" chain the valid one, even if the "bad pool" had much more power than him, this should never be possible for any coin.. not with > 51% of the power of the net and of course not with less..

I see lots of problems with the current code.

How about just create a new genesis block and call it chocolatecoin?

That would be groundbreaking but i think it is taken. Plan B?

Won't work, all his backdoors / tricks are still in the code - the code can't be trusted in its current state.

i do recall hearing john talk of modifying the code in such a way that it could note be cloned, im sure there would be backdoors or traps involve, would be rather risky without an intense full code audit.

John Connor is the good guy compared to the ones who have been hard at a takeover for almost a year now.

Scumbag bagholder with no vision that bought at 40k wants to initiate a community take over, and an ICO on top of that. I mean, what could go wrong ?

The absolute worst people in history, ranked by the wisdom of the crowd: "Vlad the Impaler", "Mihnea the Evil", "Ivan the Terrible" and "Evan the Instaminer".

Oh sorry I missed who you are Smiley

Obviously he was able to fork off pools/miners from "his" chain without even having more than 51% of the network, if that is not evidence enough.. Well..
And no, it wasn't only my pool Smiley

What do you mean by "protecting a pool" ? I'm running pools for years and I know very well how to "protect" them, or was anything hacked ? He forked off and banned the node(s) of my pool three times, invalidating blocks on the pool even while the pool had a lot more than 50 % of the network.

He was claiming the pool's p2p node was "open" - well.. A p2p port is designed to be open, isn't it ? Smiley The RPC port is the port which needs to be protected and XVC doesn't even have password authentication for the RPC port neither does it have host-based access restrictions.. Every bitcoin based wallet has that since the very first version.. (rpcallowip... rpcusername/password etc) ... So the only way of protecting a XVC wallet is by making it listen on 127.0.0.1 only and having iptables rules in place.
