FWIW the poor audio quality is not down to me. The stage was amongst all the other exhibits in the main entrance grand hall. The ambient noise at the CES was very, very loud. I could barely hear Brian ask questions and he was next to me. They have scrubbed that audio considerably to remove any background, I can only presume there is a loss of audio w.r.t. myself as well. I can also only assume that's why Tech crunch chose to have their talks in a 'studio' they created in the parking lot outside, and away from the madding crowd so they wouldn't have these audio issues. You can probably imagine how many people attend the event. It's monstrous.

With respect to dumbing down the explanation of Bitcoin, I was asked to. Their audience is green, they were very clear on that, if I couldn't convey a simplistic explanation and have their cameraman have a lightbulb moment I shouldn't say it. I was asked to keep things very simple so anyone listening could get a gist. This was broadcast live, and you are on the spot. That's pressure, none of that was pre-rehearsed. The most important aspect was to convey that mining is about processing, securing and verifying transactions in my mind and to step away from this entire money printing premiss, although they want figures as the readership (in this case viewership) demands such. A while back I wrote an article for an inaugural Bitcoin magazine, they requested I explain the entire concept of Bitcoin mining, and it's history within 800 words and it has to be so mom 'n pop with some financial literacy can grasp the subject. That's not easy when you're assuming the audience has no prior knowledge and you are that restricted w.r.t. word count.

I was told prior to Xmas that a first day Jup had cleared $60k by an early customer, so I'd expect it to be closer to $70k by now given it's been approx three weeks since I was told that now. If I'm wrong, please correct me and I won't repeat the mistake. In any case I'll chase the guy that told me for confirmation, I wasn't pushing sales garb, but obviously the point was to remain positive, and satisfy the q's being asked.

EDIT: have just now heard it myself as the link wasn't working previously, and the audio sounds fine on my iPad. Also I was only given the all clear to go at the beginning of the week, so I entered the above totally blind. And the hair, Wink a very rare good hair day, for some reason it decided to cooperate for once. No complaints there! Tongue

Make my day! Say thanks if you found me helpful Smiley BTC Address --->

I don't think the new firmware works bad at all on October Jupiters. I've been bfgminer in the new firmware on an October Jupiter for the past 12 hours and am getting 562 GH at the pool with 1.7% hardware errors.

The 2013 annual report to congress by the national taxpayer advocate is available for download from the irs as are tax forms.

The report to congress has a section devoted to:
MSP
#24
Digital Currency: The IRS Should Issue Guidance to Assist
Users of Digital Currency
...
It is the government’s responsibility to inform the public about the rules they are required to follow.41 The
lack of clear answers to basic questions such as when and how taxpayers should report gains and losses on
digital currency transactions probably encourages tax avoidance.
Many law-abiding taxpayers want to comply and to distinguish themselves from tax evaders.42 Some are
frustrated by the IRS’s lack of guidance. According to the summary of a book that purports to identify
bitcoin-related tax issues:
The IRS is famous for expecting people to comply with tax rules that aren’t even written yet.
And, they have given no indication that they are going to help Bitcoin users out any time
soon…. Because Bitcoin is new technology and not easily defined, in a legal sense, this will
allow you to be much more creative and flexible and legally reduce your tax liability.43

Okay, I know it's off topic but this is nice. If you don't want to burn out your printer and spend wads of cash for toner, or if you don't want to drive to an IRS tax assistance center (my closest are in Atlanta or Columbus), you can get hard copies of IRS documents by searching and ordering online. First one finds what documents one wants then searches on this page and then mash the button for place in cart. Then go back and find additional forms and repeat then go to check out. Forms arrive in 10 days. Best of all it's free. For the last two years I've use the hard copy 2011 form 1040A instructions booklet as a table mat on my desk on which I place hot plates, i.e. breakfast, dinner.

It's Engadget. Their interviews of late have suffered severe audio QC issues. Lookup their interview with Mark Cerny and you'll see what I'm talking about.

What are you seeing for numbers?

My "Super" Jupiter with 6 modules slows down from 850gh to 600gh with bfg.  Tried enabledcores.bin and no dice. With cg it's fine.

I wonder if my calculations are off.  I seem to see that if the rate of hashrate increase on the net remains the same I can probably make a little money with my expensive Neptune in a 3 month period if a btc is $853.  But if the rate of change increases much it will drop to less than paid for and making little after the 3 months.  I used an average of a week a month ago and this last week, btc mined with 300GHs.

Know what would work for KnC? A special deal to sell all returned 1st and 2nd batch Neptunes to a commercial miner farm.

Current thirty day average difficulty growth is 56% according to TGB.  Which'll soon rise for about a week before going back down again due to the next difficulty retarget coming up.  As I've already stated at this rate the batch one $10K Neptunes are good to be delivered up until May and still make their ROI.  The last sixty days average growth was 178% according to TGB.  I don't see this rate increasing much and may actually continue to ease off over the next few months.  Unless there's some more dramatic bitcoin price rises IMHO.  Although CT are due to start shipping soon and maybe HF will start shipping en masse eventually.

Orama, will knc allow us to use neptune order money to order jupiters?

edit: realized adding more jupiters isn't really going to put a dent in the 17 PH out there now.

Orama, will knc allow us to use neptune order money to order jupiters? Since the network will get blown out again my neptune orders are going to be worthless.

You should just get a refund and stop worrying about it.

How long does the support take to answer at the moment ?

I know I could find the answer to the following questions by going "a few" pages back but could someone be kind enough to reply :
How many Neptune's where sold on the First Batch "Closed-Sale" and on the First Batch "Everybody Sale" ?
How many Neptune Second Batch are left ?
