Smells like a cash flow problem to me … just like the alleged 'yield problem' with the ASICs

Considering the money KNC is pulling in with their datorhall, I really don't think cash flow is a problem for them at the moment.

I know that is the conventional view. I don't subscribe to it. Their costs must be high and they are trying to build out their DCs ASAP while the going is good. I'm guessing they are spending a lot of money. They act like agreeing to refund Titan customers is an existential threat, etc, etc.

At the very least, their capital controls must be super tight right now ...

That sucks.  As the fastest and cheapest solution, I would recommend that you or a nerd friend repair the board by desoldering the burnt connector, and soldering in two connectors on short leads to replace it.

Those are only 18AWG adapters Bogart, I would try to get something more beefy.

Yeah, 16-ga would have been better, but really I expect the connector pins to be the weak link(s) in the chain.  If something's gonna give, I expect it will be at the pins.

If I assume that a Titan board uses 300W, and I use 2 connectors per board, each pin/wire should end up carrying 4.1666 amps, which ought to be fine and still leave plenty of headroom.

There are connectors and there are connectors, there are pins and there are pins.

Molex makes some pretty good connector bodies and pins that can handle the current, versus unknown generic components.

Yes. If you use the Y adapters, you'll need 2 PCI-e cables per cube.

Best place to get my hands on these adapters? Being as it will be months to get them from KnC I'm betting? lol

For those who will be facing having to RMA dead cubes, this has been posted today over on Litecointalk by user 'Mattzees'

They got my cube on 10/19.  I just got an email today saying my cube is indeed dead, which is what I'd been trying to tell them, and offering me a choice of replacements.  I can have two partly-working Batch One cubes shipped to me right now, or I can wait "several weeks" for a single working cube.

This is a reflection of how seriously messed up the situation with KnC is, they finally admit that the cube was dead after having had the failed unit in their possession since 19th October and, as of today, they can't even send him back a single working cube and are resorting to offering two known-to-be-faulty cubes or he has to wait several weeks longer than he already has.

Tell me again why KnC were offered 14,000,000 dollars by a VC Fund, was it because they produce a quality product and are a professional outfit or was it just because they *really* know how to bilk their customers for megabucks?

The answer is actually 'C'.  Due to KnC relieving themselves of customers, the VC fund will get part of any new DC KnC will make....and KnC will make a lot with 14mil.  The BTC 'earned' will be liquidated for cash for expenses/profit immediately or in batches from now to halving at least.

that's a big gamble, all it takes is for someone else to come along with 28million (which, in the scheme of things isn't a huge amount) and the size of those 'earned' liquidated funds will half way before block halving.

Customers aren't likely to make ROI from mining with these units, but KnC most definitely could.

They have this as a solution that would relieve them of the potential risks exposing them to litigation from their current poor handling of the situation, but they appear to be determined to simply keep chanting 'no refund' and threatening forced deliveries on customers who are absolutely entitled to cancel due to the units not being what was promised in the original (and still current) sales description.

A lot of Titan customers have 1 or more dies that are DOA. Any Neptune owners here with experience in kicking Ericcson DC/DC modules to get them to start working ?

I received a new Titan with 1 die DOA. After filing a support request with KNC, I received a reply which stated

"If the die is only working intermittently it is likely an issue with the die due to the low chip yield we have had. In this case you can set this die to "Off" using the option in the advanced page drop down menu for clock speed and increase the clock speed of the remaining dies on that cube to 325 Mhz. This should bring the performance of that cube up to the usual hashing speed and the miner should be able to achieve the minimum of 300 Mhs +"

I interpret this to mean that KNC is knowingly shipping a defective product due to yield problems.

If you bought a new car with a v8 and it only ran on 7 cylinders what would you do when your car dealer told you "don't worry, be happy, it will still go 98 miles and hour" ?

I wouldn't bother with "Bitcoinbrothers", it looks like another cookie cutter scam.

They claim their 16nm hardware will be ready for mass deployment in Q1 even though TSMC doesn't plan to begin mass production of 16nm until Q2.

They also claim to have had 20nm hardware since April but cannot provide any pics or a mining address. Seems we're supposed to believe they spent millions developing a badass 20nm ASIC yet never sold a single machine to anyone.
