Yeah, the little FET's on there are also very hot. IIRC when I looked through the tech docs on those DCDC's it shows where each DCDC's thermistors are located. I believer there is 2 per DCDC but I could be wrong. The docs also specified 2 key points of measurement for cooling & airflow, one of them was the inductor. Grilling through the tech docs is how I ended up realizing why in most cases these things are being tortured and the way we run them the life expectency is drastically minimized. Which is why I recommend 85-90C webgui readout being the absolute max we push them to. 

They are, but the RC network across the inductor (that's how they sense current and stay in phase) is well tuned and I'm guessing the switching frequency is both dynamic and able to sense an impending cut-through with a crowbar of the gates to prevent total failure.

The trick is you're supposed to provide airflow around the units, not just on the inductor. That airflow would help keep the caps cool. my guess is they are 105c rated and when it hits that the fun begins.

You need to contact ebay....show you are the admin of the github site of your sofware for proof....and get him shut down if not banned from ebay

that should be plenty of info imho to do this with an ebay rep (they will answer voice or did a couple years ago on fraud)

anyway that is all you can do or if you know his real name and address you can sic a lawyer on him


but hell ....the one call to ebay with some proof sent there way may be all it takes...and if they open a 'dispute' per say and put it on hold  he will run away

Ive really tried hard as I can not to post the truth about what happened between GenTarkin and I. But as I watch TXSTEVE and Gentarkin tell lies I have no choice but to tell the truth and set the record straight. Its a very long story, but I will try to make it as short as possible.

On August 1st 2015. I began looking for someone to do custom work on the KNCminer image. I offered a .5 BTC bounty. GenTarkin responded and asked what I needed and I told him. He did the work and I paid him.

We started to talk and he said he had been putting together a modified firmware for the community. He was in shock that someone would actually pay him .5 btc for his work. I tried to tell him at that time that he was very talented, and that he was worth much more. So on a daily basis we would talk, and I had mentioned to him many times that his donation version was not paying him enough AND that community wanted more regular updates. Gentarkin said he enjoyed the work and that he would just work on it when he had time. I tried to convince him that he could put some real time into this and develop an amazing product and get paid for it. He would NOT listen. So, I came up with an idea , and I said look, why dont you put out a premium and charge $50 and remove the donation. He said well "no one will pay $50 for this". Over the next few weeks I kept on talking about the idea of a paid premium version. FINALLY he decided to do it. Frankly I think it was to just "shut me up". So a couple of weeks goes by and he starts getting people to pay him for his premium version. I asked him if I could list it on Ebay, and he said yes. He never asked me for any money. We got talking about Ebay , and he said well, I dont really care about Ebay because I doubt people will pay for it anyway. So he wasnt really interested in a cut of the money. BUT, I realized within a few days that this was going to be a hot seller, and I came to him and said "Hey I need to pay you, your cut". Gentarkin said "what cut? You never promised anything from Ebay". I said "look, its making fast sales, I know you didnt agree to a cut but its the right thing to do". So , I started sending him a cut from every single sale, because I felt that was right. This can be confirmed by Gentarkin. Next I said well, I should post this on my site and generate traffic and sales there, and his attitude was "well, ya, I suppose". He didnt seem to realize the business end of things. I started to realize that Gentarkin was an incredibly talented coder, and the best there is as far as this firmware goes, but he had ZERO business sense. But I looked at it and thought well, after running multiple businesses for 20 years, I can help him take this thing to a new level. So sales were doing VERY well on EBay. I created my page for the premium software, and optimized it for search engines, so it was on page 1 for every Kncminer titan firmware search term you can think of. We were getting a 1000 visitors a MONTH (Gentark will confirm), and doing VERY well. Gentarkin was getting paid within the hour of the sale, and because the site was mine, I would have to answer a few hindered emails a month with questions, which he never even knew about because I was making money and he was too, so it didnt bother me.Most days, sales were good. But then Gentarkin started to complain ANY day there was not one sale. This was every day we would go without a sale, he would email me and complain. I have loads of them still I can post to prove. So, I started looking at it and I said "You need to remove the free version from the githib". WHY would ANYONE buy something when they can get it for free. He did NOT understand this concept. He held his ground and said "The free version stays on the github". So, as the weeks past , he would complain any day there was not a sale. So I responded every day and told him you MUST remove that free version, its killing our sales. So he had a free version, EXACT same software, I mean IDENTICAL, and then he wanted me to sell the same software for $50, and I actually did quite well. So as the weeks went on I begged him to remove the free version from the github, and he FINALLY did, but I still dont think he understood why. I think he just wanted me to stop asking him.  So as things progressed and the sales became better and better we began to chat almost hourly, we would discuss ideas. Then  as the months went on, I realized that we had discussed so many ideas and not 1 of them he implemented. I got upset and I asked him. I said "why do we talk every single day about ideas for months, and you dont even implement even 1 of mine, why are we wasting time like this?". I said I dont care about the money, but show me some respect after discussing all of these ideas, and atleast implement a small one. Months past, and we continued to talk multiple times a day about all these ideas for the frimware. Not one of my ideas he would implement. In fact, he would shut down ANY idea I had approached him with in about 10 seconds flat. So, finally I told him, "look stop discussing ideas with me, because you get me excited that this or that idea will get implemented and you have not ONCE implemented any of my ideas. You make me feel like I am a big part of this project, but your actions tell me Im not. Your actions prove it. Then you ask my opinion on an idea, and the ones that I say I dont like you implement anyway. So I had to rethink my place. My place was to generate sales for us, and answer any/all email questions to customers, and make sure they received their firmware as fast as I could get it to them. Things were going really well, and we were making a lot of money, then in mid-late December 2015 he was going away on vacation. I wished him well, and everything was fine. Now meanwhile Im running the business and doing everything, AND sending his cut to him automatically while he is away. Then on December 29th 2015 , a hidden unannounced website that NOBODY knew about was discovered.  http://gentarkincustomtitan.pcriot.com/? Everyone called scam , because NOBODY knew about it. I talked to Gentarkin MULTIPLE times a day and he NEVER mentioned it ONCE.

Now get this:

The website was registered in NOVEMBER 2015!!!

We are chatting like best friends for weeks, and he NEVER mentioned this website to ANYONE?!?!?! Someone found it!! He NEVER announced it!! WHY!?!?!?!? Wouldnt you want EVERYONE to know about your website?!?!

The website was registered in NOVEMBER 2015 , when everything was fine.

So I thought "well, dont draw any conclusions, I ask Gentarkin about this". So I asked him about it, and he said "Well, it was never really going to be anything, I just made it for a backup". I said "backup?" He said ya, you know, if something should happen between me and you. He said "I got a little scared that time you were upset because I wasnt putting any of your ideas into the firmware". He said "while we are on the subject, "can I get a copy of the customer database with all of their emails?" I said "It sounds like your getting rid of me, why?". Have I not takeng this project to new heights you couldnt even dream of? Have I EVER, been dishonest with you , even ONCE, in ANY WAY SHAPE OR FORM?" He said "No, you have been totally honest, always". I said "then why are you getting rid of me?". He said "Im not getting rid of you, I just need that customer information". I said "no, you dont get to throw me away like trash, Ive been good to you. I said "even though you did the coding, I still busted my but handling all of these transactions, and email questions and marketing" on a daily basis. I said "I get it, now Ive shown you how much money you can make and how, you dont need me anymore!!".

So thats where we ended. He started when I met him by giving his software away for free. I taught him how much money he could make , and how to do it. He decided he could make more now that he knew how and cut me out. That is what this is all about.

Thats when I said screw it, Ill post the new version on my site and Ebay. Its open source. Anyone can fork the code and sell it.

The message to Gentarkin was "If it wasnt for me, you would not have made that chunk of cash. You would still be doing work on the firmware in your spare time, and giving it away for free, because that is all you knew. Yes, u left 6 weeks ago ... there have been plenty of updates since then. I have been very active with the community and w/ progress updates regarding my firmware. The OFFICIAL PROJECT (mine) is healthy and alive, still improving & testing.

Furthermore Ive made it perfectly clear to the community why I made the site in secret, as a backup in november: You threatened to abandoned the project and myself TWICE prior to that. I needed something to fall back on that I could handle sales with if this indeed came to pass. When 2 sales fell through the cracks over christmas(your responsibility) and I was not informed and came back to a very uncertain situation, after attempting to contact you for days if not an entire week... my trust in you was substantially shaken. Sure you eventually got back to me, and sure I presented my idea and came forward to you about my site. You refused to share the same access & customer interaction and sales handling & PROFIT SHARING we'd had always been doing ... on the new site. YOU REFUSED MY OFFERING TO YOU. Finally, you withheld my rightful customer list and walked away entirely. WAIT...nope ya didnt, you returned and started selling my unfinished & broken "Energy Saver" code, not only undercutting my efforts & sales ... but putting peoples hardware at risk.

In the end, sir, you are the one who is only concerned about the money(I offered you the SAME EXACT SPLIT of profit in transitioning to my site, YOU TURNED IT DOWN). Thats all this ever meant to you. Your selling of my broken beta code is proof alone of this for anyone to see.

and shut all of knc down......and off to icelandic data halls they went....the swedish consumer part of the business relasted to us was shut down jan 2015

just a couple guys doing RMA for folk under the 1 year warranty....and they probably will be gone soon as well

hell about 6 months ago I sent emails just to see if they would reply on an RMA question.....4 emails w/in the month NO replies

they don't / won't talk about anything ..my view due to the 'class action' they were told to clam up and do zip tech wise imho

by the by i should probably google or find out what ever happened with that class action against knc (i had no balls to toss 1.5k in the kitty and be liable
according to the law firm probably no more then 5k if knc won....so chickened out)

Heh....KNC  just liked tellying you NO! (just my view)  (I hope some 'former' or other knc tech there is following your firmware progress....put them in their place.....knc even went 'cheap' on their techs and guys with firmware development ..look at github 2 guys...you make 200 million in 2014 an you have 1 guy (kurt quit dec 2014) and the other guy that did a tweak or two
till feb 2015..after kurt hit the road..thats it.....customer were chumps imho before the units even left the gate

here is my 'sacrifice of a titan clone board'  idea....." likely to be shot down by lightfoot (and pics of KNC Oct Jupiter 550gh 4 port Beagle Bone Black Card) that I propose to attempt to mod
to a Titan 4 port board ..using the 'cloned titan bridge (1 of 10) sold on here recently.....for those interested below is the link

have a cube that I really NOW have to play with a Titan Cube and repaste/add fan/do the cut down main heatsink and small heatsink mods) that is slowly dying
2 dies slip sliding into oblivion...a tweak at a time every 2 weeks or so...currently at 200 and 250 ....

so hell may as well 'wreck' as much stuff as possible before these Titan's turn into doorstops......Fast an Furious ASIC version lol )

here is the link to the pics/info and hopefully lightfoot will reply..those with the same old KNC OCT Jupiter/Saturn/Mercury 4 or 6 port boards you may still
have laying about..may want to see if anything like this is 'possible' or 'could work'

...if someone was to just map such out on both boards...again guessing ..but hey look at the firmware shortcuts they took with that and Glen Tarkin's major improvements
...it just plain imho could be that simple (or I could see a cloned titan bridge melt ...like the wicked witch of the east.....)

You can buy replacement heatsink holddown parts directly from coolermaster.
The screw sizes may be different(a tight fit thru the holes in ASIC PCB) but new smaller screws are inexpensive.
I drilled the holes larger.
IF YOU DRILL, RUN A VACUUME CLEANER(ASIC side) WHILE DRILLING!!!

If it fits an Intel 1155 socket heatsink pattern it will fit.
It uses a 75mm x 75mm square hole pattern.
Other PC heatsink manufacturers have similar replacement items.
There are also many flavors of waterblock mounting hardware that could be pressed into service.
The hole pattern is an industry standard.

This way you could save the original plate in case you change your mind.

You can buy replacement heatsink holddown parts directly from coolermaster....

If it fits an Intel 1155 socket heatsink pattern it will fit.
It uses a 75mm x 75mm square hole pattern.
Other PC heatsink manufacturers have similar replacement items.
There are also many flavors of waterblock mounting hardware that could be pressed into service.
The hole pattern is an industry standard.

How are people justifying the expense in this?  It sounds like we're back to being GPU hobbyists again, except this time with an even greater lack of understanding of what we're working with.  Not that there's anything wrong with that. 

But just for reference; Spending $100 USD on aftermarket fans will set your ROI back about 30 days.  Are people really considering water cooling?

And now I'm really confused.  Is the bridgeboard a completely passive device?  You mean we could just build a cable to replace it entirely?

Most people (original Titan owners) made 2x-3x or more of their initial investment, so it is pure profit to run them now. Unless someone bought an expensive secondhand Titan recently, then ROI is at least 12 months w/o any added expense.
