Anyone know what she means by heat output will be 1000 watts?
You take a 1000w heater and turn it on to maximum.
That will be the heat produced by a Jupiter.

Seriously, it has been said before that a Jupiter will consume 1000w.
That is what Emilia wanted to say because a machine consuming 1000w and producing 1000w of heat is a heater Wink

From my understanding wattage is not a measure of heat output. Is there a way to convert this into BTU? I'm seeing estimates that a 1000w heater = ~3,400 BTU's/hour is that about right?

1KW = 3412 Btu/hr

12,000 Btu/hr = 1 ton of cooling

Thank you.

How can something that takes 1000w produce 1000w of heat? Shouldn't there be something lost in the conversion and/or the actual process of hashing?

Almost all the power coming from the wall is converted to heat for such devices. The heat is liberating
in various locations along the electrical path, but on a bulk basis it is effectively 100%.

Hi Guys

Sorry for butting in in your discussion but don't buy any power supplies yet.

We will have a large Technical announcement coming next week. Where we will give even more accurate Power figures and GH/s.

It will be a significant announcement which I hope will make all of our customers happy. and no before you ask I wont reveal any details before that newsletter goes out Smiley

again please don't buy a 1200W power supply you simply will not need one that powerful or expensive.

Sam "

i just requested an update and told them i was nervous since there hasnt been any news since the 26th. here is her response:

Hi,

We are right on track with our timeframe and we are focused on the production at this point. We are sorry for the lack of updates, but there will be more information added shortly.
Please rest assured that all is coming together as planned.

Thanks
Emilia

God... would you look at that... its ACTUAL customer service!...So refreshing... I swear, these other vendors have no idea how important it is to their future to have a few reassuring words - Emilia if you are following the forums, your awesome.. Thank you for being patient with everyone's bozo questions. it means ALOT.

Emilia and KNC have been very responsive to my emails and inquiries so far. Keep up the great work KNC and Emilia :-)

wonder where Andreas is ?

Andreas is cool, he just isn't as confident speaking English. Emilia is Sam's wife who has taken over customer service as Sam and Andreas focus on management of the respective teams they have in place, and continue to build.

Ahh Great !...man you are really "into" these guys Wink..thx for info ..

You said.... "I thought being reading the specs of the AX1200 I bought for it ..."
which is why I showed it to you... also....
Sam posted that on July 1st,(see top of post) so "next week" is now, not June
(Which is why I'm so excited about an improvement on 100GH/s and 250w per chip),
because those specs were given on june 26th news.

I suppose you could power more than one unit with a biggie like that...like 3 saturns...
who knows.

Well, they are talking about upgrade modules.
Two question came into my mind :
Can you add the module yourself or does KNC have to do it ?
When will the modules start shipping (September, October ...) ?

I'm willing to bet we could add them ourselves unless they are talking the 1-4 chips per board where 2 = Saturn 4 = jupiter.  Yea I would also like some pictures too, but I'm feeling like they are still in process of designing and sourcing cases.  Otherwise there would have been those already.  This also goes back to the possibility that they may be trying to hide advancements or NRE developments made while processing that they want to remain as proprietary.  I'm hoping to get a glance at the types of cases they plan to use.  I am planning to have it in a location where it shouldnt be DIY but very sturdy.  The Mars FPGA prototype and that other long looking version of it were not very convincing to me for longer term durability.

Just observing - are those photos on their site made from Google Sketchup?

Status Update
7/11/2013 11:15:00 AM

Shipping days,

As most of you are aware we have added Day 1 or Day 2 to the orders which were based on pre-registrations. This is mostly complete now with only a few exceptions needing to be solved. Going forward we will add Shipping weeks to the other orders such as Week 1 or Week 2.  This will happen nearer the end of August so until then you can assume that shipment queue is based on payment date.

Chip progress

We get a lot of questions about where we are in the process of our production. We would like to assure you all that we are on track for the first shipment in September

The Chip manufacture is currently in production of the Chips and all other sub components that need to have been ordered at this stage have been.

Hosting

We have our final costs for hosting which will be 350USD per Jupiter per month with a 6 month contract as a minimum, We will only allow the Jupiter models to be housed in our secure location.

There will be a mining pool onsite that will charge a very low pool fee around 2%. Only hosting customers will be allowed to use our mining pool.

More information on the hosting will follow

Upgrade Modules

We will be adding to our shop the upgrade modules to allow customer who have purchased a Saturn to upgrade their order to a Jupiter. The same goes for a Mercury upgrade to a Saturn. These upgrades will be available in the next few days.

This also goes back to the possibility that they may be trying to hide advancements or NRE developments made while processing that they want to remain as proprietary.

It's the hypothesis giving me hope Smiley
