Jupiters will always sell.  If Neptunes can be shown to be powered reasonably in a US home without rewiring then they'll sell like hotcakes but still there will be miners who would rather go with a device a quarter the cost of a Neptune.

Powering is the issue I'm sure.  Some look to remove a module if possible - that hopefully bringing it within range of a 15 amp circuit.  But if that is necessary then multiple Jupiters, perhaps in different rooms for separate breakers, would sell.

Wink KNC will ship new Jupiters soon I'm sure Wink

If they do that it will likely push neptunes into Q2. I'll probably drop my neptune order in that case. I hope they put out some updates soon.

And this ^^^^ is why KNC will not release Jupiters. Perhaps they can just release upgrade modules??

Maybe the reasonable current at European voltages is why.  Not easy in US.  Not like they need US buyers.

Post-WWII baby boom generation is retired or retiring now.  The aforesaid generation grew when European and Japanese factories were rebuilding, almost leveled in the war while we had factories intact and no competition.  Until the 1970's if you had US dollars you were 'loved' anywhere but it was often a mask.  This generation is informed by a mindset that doesn't need the US.

It's been said before by myself and others.. they put themselves between a rock and a hard place with the timing of their new equipment and their NPS.

If people really wanted them to take notice, just get about 80% of all preorders to demand a refund.

I'm wiring my house with 6 x 30-amp 240v circuits to handle my mining equipment. I'm more worried about cooling to be honest  Wink

Yes, I think the low end, efficient, window AC by Haier got bumped by $30-$50 after the summer.  Went looking the other day.

Why? Who would imagine a Jup would break even now? It won't in BTC for certain.
Worse, who will soon have a fairly large number of Jups to sell , either as units or broken into modules? Because they have 1st dibs on their own new rigs.

Why buy a Jup now interests me most, there may be some logic, but it's totally missed me. It's fucking madness unless reliance on the exchange rate in the long term is involved.

If Knc releases another batch of Jupiters, they will be priced at less than 5k. I bet they would be priced at around 3k, which is about 4 BTC.

A Jupiter purchased now and delivered immediately will almost certainly earn more than 4 BTC in its lifetime.

Looking at some other miners for sale in group purchases they had been priced for a btc break even at about 90 days, at the current rate and without increase, but has stretched out with recent increases.  Perhaps KnC is also seeing that and factoring that in with regard to possible Jupiter sales weighed against those sales degrading Neptune sales.  Jupiter sales will slow Neptune sales unless some Neptunes are fielded and producing.  Jupiter sales will effect sales of other miners.  Staying in the ball park relative to the competition with future Jupiter sales may be a choice they made.

They could undercut Cointerra right now. I'm wagering Jupiters cost KNC $1k. They could sell them for $2k, we'd be happy, they'd make 100% profit, and Cointerra would get butthurt.

Although we don't know KNC's asic chip cost, the mere fact they are using (cheap) air cooling vs watercooling and supplying without a PSU in a cheap case must make KNC's costs significantly lower than Cointerra's. IMHO.

WTF?  SOY... somehow I cannot read your post... it says "User ignored"... although I never told it to do so, and there is no "unignore" visible... anyone else have this? I rather enjoy Soy's posts....

also... I can confirm receipt of Neptune refund. Got it.

KNC be dammed for keeping tight lips on Neptune and even Jupiters.

Just sold my BFL Single for a nice sum of cash. Compared to the KNC hardware its so loud, hot, and terribly inefficient with power. I haven't done any power tests at the wall but the damned thing just demands a 500W PSU all to itself for 60 GH and the Mercury + upgrade board doing 290GH can use it and then some without being anywhere near as hot. I'll buy another upgrade board or a whole Jupiter over this thing.

How much did you get for the single? 50Gh/s or 60Gh/s?

No way KNC would sell the Jupiters for under 2k. At 2k, that is less $/GH than the customer appreciation Neptune batch, with an earlier delivery date.

My projection is they would sell it at around 4-4.5k, unless there were significant upgrades to merit a 5k price tag again. Either way, they would sell out very fast.

With network projections, we can probably safely assume that KNC manufacturers well over 1500 instead of the 1200 readily sold in each batch. You can calculate around 10% maximum additional units in referrals, with at least 5% being mined by the company. I'm sure the staff (either at the very top or a general policy) have access to employee units, so I'd say around 1500 per batch would be accurate, if not more.

60GH
What I paid for it - $1.3k without a power supply. I've made that back and then some.

I just think with the skyrocketting difficulty that it won't last much longer unless BTC jumps up. Which, I'm not doubtful of, I just much rather get my hands on another KNC should the opportunity arise even if it costs $3-4k~
Otherwise, I needed the cash now anywho. Im moving to Canada for work and for the first time, Im going to be paying for electricity so it might kill me anyway.
