i would speculate the pictures we have seen of 28nm boards hashing in the datacenter are actually the hosted boards, which KnC host for people like me and their 5% portion of what 28nm tech they have sold

FUD. Well, you are revealing how little you really know.

KNC moved into their helicopter hangar within a few days of the Plan B announcement - i.e. first few days of February.

So unless there was a massive downtime in hosted units the last 4 weeks (not several months), then you are spreading lies to suggest the datacentre is for hosted boards.

You are spending a lot of time trying to call people out as FUD spreaders - you are not going to get any of my swedish massage models, so give it up  

bellow is a quote i made maybe a week or so( if memory serves me correct) after the hosted miners were offline. I am trying to find any posts i made about the miners actually being down for a few hours so i can reference the dates.

edit: now it is dropping and is back under 600GH. wish i took a screenshot of it up at 670GH, i was very confused.
The other dropped as low as 480 though.

but in spite of the silly speculative doom and gloom that has swept over this thread, there still might be reason for optimism among those with outstanding Neptune orders.

Silly speculative doom and gloom? I normally respect what you have to offer on these forums but I find this comment slightly insulting. The lack of information from KNC is the root cause of all the "silly speculation" and now that we're finally getting more information the doom and gloom is quite justified IMO.

I'm trying to understand why anybody would still be holding onto a Neptune pre-order instead of refunding to simply buy more BTC than their Neptune could ever hope to mine.

To be clear, I am definitely not the beloved KnC Orama.

It was never meant to be insulting to anyone (though those that have completely written off any chance of a profit might find it insulting) What has been insulting is the last 2 months of this thread where it's become so incomprehensible that anyone would be keeping a preordered Neptune as if they haven't run any figures or are simply relying on others to tell them what to do.

To give a very quick and rough example:
-Let's say the first Neptunes are delivered in May
-Difficulty is now at 10 billion (~65% increase per month between now and then)
-Neptunes run at 4.5Th -completely reasonable based upon the information we have from the tapeout announcement
-Once the miner is received, difficulty increases 1.5 billion each week (meaning a mining farm approximately the size of KnC's datorhall comes online every week)
-A Neptune will return ~12 BTC over the course of 3 months
-Now, let's just add a correcting 10 billion increase at the end of those 3 months to make difficulty ~30 billion in September and adjust to 2 billion increases each week
-That same 4.5Th machine will now return an additional ~5 BTC over the following 3 months

For me, that would be a 7 BTC profit. (power costs not included)
There's also risk assumed in a 10 day window between the initial request for a refund and the opportunity to buy BTC. Some might even find some level of altruistic value to the Bitcoin community by maintaining a miner at home as opposed to forfeiting every hash to these massive farms.

I think the issue is the market is different than what it was in December when many placed the order. Now you can get 3TH for 17.7 BTC (bitmain) which is around $11.6k. It doesn't make sense to preorder to save $1.6k and have all the uncertainty around delivery time, hashrate, etc.

Since the OC thread is dead.  If you had extra November Jupiter modules could you add a 5x2 port to your other November Jupiter and add 1 module per?  Not the upgrade modules for October units but actual November units on another November unit.

I would like to add that Alchip doesn't have an official press release posted on their site about the 20nm chip, their last release was from the Jupiter. But looking through the Jupiter info it doesn't say how cores it is, nor does KNC say how many TH/s on the Neptune so we can speculate what its really meant by a 43% reduction in power.

Also should mention board worked perfect before it was also a front of the Jupiter ASIC.  Power supplies ranged from 1200-1500 that I've tested the board on my other Jupiters with.

Any ideas?

Actually I am running 3 of my November ASIC on an October controller board.  The cyclone is the same fpga on both.  Beaglebone just needs the right firmware lol.

I was testing them on my other 3 Novembers. 

So I'm building my own plan b in my shop accept it will be all antminer U2 units.  Like a bauce lol!
