University Business School ESMT Berlin Now Accepting Bitcoin

The international business school ESMT Berlin has just announced it will be accepting bitcoin for tuition and degree certification. The school will be the first German University to accept cryptocurrency as payment.

ESMT Berlin is a leading business school in Germany that offers MBA accreditation, PhDs, and master’s degrees. The private university, located at Schloss Gracht near the German city of Cologne, has been well established for 25 years. Now the school will be accepting bitcoin for all of its education programs. The university detailed that digital currencies offer money transfers without the need for third-party intermediaries.

If this "news" is factual, then it should be primarily seen as a marketing campaign of the business school in question. Note that it is not a regular university that accepts bitcoin, but an entirely private entity. Of course, acceptance of Bitcoin is always a good thing, but all these optional service sector offerings are not helping in improving the overall state of the Bitcoin economy.

I would love to see companies from the primary sector to accept Bitcoin. Farmers and food makers accepting bitcoin would be the real thing, because everybody needs to eat. Only few people will ever enlist in a private business school...

I doubt if this should be making news any more. Bitcoin has come a long way since its initial days and adding it as a payment option makes sense for most establishments.
 
There are even schools in India which accept bitcoins.
