Installed the latest Intel drivers, and I am getting around 3.5 M/hash on average. Worth it to keep around?

The HD 4000 on my T430s does around 4.5 M/hash.

My GTX 560 Ti at home does around 70 M/hash, I think.

Or should I just buy one of those ASIC miners?

You should just buy one of these asic miners... And then wait a year until hopefully you get one.. If you buy an Avalon ASIC. Each other ASIC Seller: probably SCAM

If you like my advise, i would be thankful getting a small donation at:

I am tempted to buy one of the lower-end miners from Butterfly Labs. I am not looking to get rich off this - I just hope I can fund a daily coffee habit, lol.

lol - That should make you around BTC0.0002 per day or $0.04 per 24/hr. http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/

Your Surface Pro retails for about $1,000.

Therefore, if you want to risk burning out the unit for a single dollar ... do it!

I think I'm going to buy an ASIC then. One of those 5 G/hash ones.

Even better luck with that. All the (other) vendors are proven scams. Avalon is the only ASIC one can buy currently.

Can you actually buy Avalons right now, or do you have to wait for their next batch? Current BFL shipping time is expected to be a 3-4 month wait.

Only secondhand, but it's still the only ASIC option ATM.
