Bitcoins are pretty safe. Haha, your problem shows the exact issue with fiat currency and it's security issues.

Anyway, so it'd help to know where you're located (country) because that may increase possibilities of trading somehow. I'm interested but not sure how I can reliably get money to you.

I'd suggest you try selling them on IRC to someone with a reasonable reputation on WOT.

IRC? WOT? sorry noob here

The bitcoin Internet Relay Chat (IRC) channel using the built-in Web-of-Trust (WOT) trading bot.  I believe that the channel is called OTC (over the counter) or something like that, and a lot of heavy traders lurk there.

"The powers of financial capitalism had another far-reaching aim, nothing less than to create a world system of financial control in private hands able to dominate the political system of each country and the economy of the world as a whole. This system was to be controlled in a feudalist fashion by the central banks of the world acting in concert, by secret agreements arrived at in frequent meetings and conferences. The apex of the systems was to be the Bank for International Settlements in Basel, Switzerland, a private bank owned and controlled by the world's central banks which were themselves private corporations. Each central bank...sought to dominate its government by its ability to control Treasury loans, to manipulate foreign exchanges, to influence the level of economic activity in the country, and to influence cooperative politicians by subsequent economic rewards in the business world."

- Carroll Quigley, CFR member, mentor to Bill Clinton, from 'Tragedy And Hope'

Yup, and the good thing is that you can even accept a payment via Paypal there as long as the person has a good reputation on WOT (web of trust).

You can log onto it here: http://bitcoin-otc.com/

Then, you can check the user ratings in the Web of Trust (WOT). That way you'll know who you're dealing with and can be sure that they will send you money from a legit paypal account and won't do a chargeback or any funny business.

Hope that makes sense ?
