Every time a block is mined, a certain amount of BTC (called the subsidy) is created out of thin air and given to the miner. The subsidy halves every four years and will reach 0 in about 130 years.

I have my BTC back as well now.

So Simon has turned out to be a very trustworthy young man and much that has been said of him has turned out to be pure FUD.
Yeah, I'm hearing a lot of silence from TCollar right about now. Must be from the mouthful of his words that he's eating.

about 20 hours i think even thogh we got in quite quick within 10 mins of the site going back online. Perhaps all BTC transactions are being verified and processed by hand?

edit: i see you got your BTC, congrats.

I would refrain from a wagering site where the admins don't respond in a timely manner. There are plenty of decent sites out there.

Yes, and that's the reason Simon ought to impose a small transaction fee should he make V2, to pay some people to give better customer correspondence. As it was running it was a system simon seemed to have setup and left to run with only sporadic monitoring.

I made my first deposit via wire xfer a day before they went down. I just got logged in and....surprise surprise...funds showing 0.

Successfully transferred very small amount of Bitcoin that I had outstanding at Bitcoin-24.com

Only waiting for around 150 Euro, that I transferred to the polish bank account just days before

Not so much to be worried about... .. .

I wish other people in a more serious situation all the best.

Lessons learned for me is:
- don't leave more BTC in online wallets than really necessary
- if I have to do transfers through the banking system in order to buy BTC, I send it in parts, and let each part not be more than I am "willing" to loose for some time / permanently

For me, this is just a unfortunate event, but not an event that makes me steer away from Bitcoin, it has nothing to do with Bitcoin itself. An event like this, even makes me feel stronger about it.

The rise of Bitcoin can't be stopped, it can only be delayed for a while by governments and bankers. Bitcoin is on a collision course with governments & bankers.

Hi, bitcoiners!

Has anyone of those who did not receive their FIAT reported the case to the police or a lawyer and tried to get the money back directly from german or polish authorities or banks? What was the response?

If I can prove the fiat money I have at bitcoin-24 is of legitimate origin and belongs to me, is there any point of going to local police (in other EU state), report the case, present the evidence, and have them talk to German authorities or whoever is holding the money?

Their lawyers seem to be doing a pretty good job. They have been posting updates just about weekly on bitcoin-24.com that you can read in English and German.

They asked that everyone not file a legal complaint, because that will complicate the situation. Right now they are trying to find out what charges are being presented, and are trying to convince the authorities that the customers shouldn't be punished and should get their money back asap. If things go smoothly, maybe the assets can be unfrozen and returned quickly. If the authorities start hearing of people making legal claims, they won't be able to release everyone's money until those are resolved so the whole thing will take more time.

If you simply can not wait and must do something, I would suggest having your lawyers contact their lawyers to discuss the best route to take.

Open a ticket on the site (and read the lawyer statements.) https://bitcoin-24.com/

very interesting insight into the actions of the authorities here, thanks for posting! With a few of these detailed questionnaires filled out, the police will have an in-depth understanding of how the business of btc-24 worked. While I can not see any deceptive business practices, I do believe that such a business requires a banking license in Germany.

I too had both fiat and BTC in there.  BTC's ive received.  The fiat was just transferred to bitcoin-24 (german account) when it shut down, so haven't used it. So when the information in the statement is correct I should be among the first to receive my money back.

i'll post when I have some more info Smiley
