Wallet Recommendations?

Hi all, looking for a couple wallet recommendations here:

1) Looking for a daily use cross-platform wallet that I can sync across multiple devices - ideally Windows, Mac, and Android

2) Also looking for a long-term storage wallet for BTC I want to invest in (not looking for a cold-wallet, not yet at least)

Anyone with recommendations, thanks in advance!

Electrum is the only one I know running on all these platforms. Any combination of HD wallets with compatible seeds would do though.

Any, just make sure its a wallet, not a service where you have to trust someone else.

The easiest that I have found to run on cross platform and sync fastest is Jaxx wallet.
They have web wallet and for ever OS and even run it from your browser. It syncs in the web browser fast and instantly. I was very surprised by it actually.

I like it as well, unfortunately you can't choose your fees, so you can get really screwed on transfer times

SOmeone already mentioned Electrum and I can't recommend any better wallet than that which you can use in all three clients. Combined with the mycelium app in android and for IOS. Other than electrum there are only web wallet like blockchain where you can use in all three.

You can import private keys from your electrum wallet address to mycelium, but honestly I think it's better to use them separately.  Just send only what you need to your mycelium wallet and keep the rest in electrum (or cold storage if you want to).

Jhanzo is correct. You can import the private key from electrum to mycelium so in that way you can have access to the address using mycelium as wallet. BTW, there is this green address wallet which have a windows, mac and android client. I think it's also a good wallet since it is listed on wallet recommendation. I haven't tried it yet tho. Someone please correct me if I am wrong, but I don't use MyCelium (it would be great if it worked for me) because it doesn't support Trezor password technology.  On my Trezor(s) I use many different wallets created via numerous passwords.  Has that changed, or am I still "out" because of passwords?

Depending, if you don't want to spend any money than you can follow the above suggestions. If you are willing to spend a mere sum like 15-40 Euro for a Hardware wallet, many of them work through browsers add ons like , Ledger and Trezor who work will google chrome so I guess you can use them in any Os that supports Google Chrome browser or basically any major OS as all of them support it. I have a Ledger hardware wallet and I am extremely pleased with its performance so far. About 4 months using it.

Could someone please recommend me a desktop wallet, which doesn't download the whole 100GB  blockchain to your computer, but still provides the following features:

 - allows backing up your private keys
 - allows signing messages with your addresses
 - has coin control features, so you could see and actually choose coin inputs for outgoing TX

Is there anything like that available for Windows?

if you have a question like this, it is best if you create a new topic so people can see and answer quicker rather than bumping an old topic.

and all you want can be found in Electrum.
- it is an SPV wallet so it only downloads blockchain headers (35 MB)
- you can back up individual private keys or the master private key (in form of your seed phrase)
- you can easily sign a message with each address
- the new version has a much better feature for coin control allowing you to spend UTXOs by selecting them.
- it runs on windows, Linux, Mac, smart phone (i think android and maybe Iphone check the website).

I am using Electrum windows wallet which is very lite and you dont have to download the full blockchain. just install it and ready to use it, it gives you private key backup and all features you are requiring. Even it is very easy to take backup. It is just for you to take note of the passphrase key and where ever you want you can just download the software and restore the wallet through passphrase key and your wallet is ready.

Didn't yet check if it has ability to manually set specific TX fee when doing a transaction, I hope it has it. The default is apparently an automatic TX fee set by wallet based on something... Probably it does it based on current mempool size..., but how could it know how urgent my specific transaction actually is..? I may want to manually specify more (or less) than it offers, as only I may know if its urgent or not...

One additional question - is there a way to disable the automatic address rotating? I mean the behaviour of wallet generating a new address every time I send funds out? I know it is for privacy, but its a bit annoying. Not a deal-breaker, but I would prefer to generate and use a couple of fixed BTC addresses. I may want to refresh them once in a while, but not as often as wallet tries to force me to...

Its looks to be pretty neat device, but paying $90 (on Amazon now) for something of that kind seems to be a bit too much to me. If you have 100+ BTC, then its definitely worth it at current BTC price, but for storing a couple of BTC it could be an overkill

Check out Tools > preference
it has lots of options that may answer all your questions, you can check the box for setting the fees manually, in the transaction tab you can check whether or not use change address,...

press Ctrl+A
that will show you the tab containing all your addresses, you can label them and use any of them you want, as many times as you want.
read this too: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Address_reuse to understand why the wallet is suggesting a new address each time.

also there is a tab called "Coins" (version 2.7.17) that you can manually select which coins (transaction outputs) to spend.
