Bitcoin is skyrocketing. I would hope the crash is not going to come but it seems there is a spiral of greed and it will continue until the point where greed turns to fear and fear turn to panic.
The bubble could crash while I sleep and there is nothing that would slow a Bitcoin crash.
Do you have any idea to prevent this scenario?
I am thinking to develop a Bitcoin price alert that will send SMS to a mobile phone if the price fall to a certain limit.
Does that sound a good idea?
http://vimeo.com/25362764tell me if you find it interesting Yes it is, but the website is down? or is it still in dev?

What youre looking for is
BTCprice.info
Free SMS alerts, based on % change, threshold and frequency.
Currently 8 countries, expanding to 140 within the next month or so
I can see alerts only on % change, see no threshold alerts there. Do they exist, or just in plans?

There's already an IOS app that will alert you to whatever price you want. You can set up as many alerts as you want too. Free app, free alerts.
Been using it for a while and it works well.
Don't think I can post any links here yet, so just search for an app called 'Bitcoin Ticker'. It isn't limited to one exchange either, it has gox, btce, bitstamp, btc24 and tradehill (I've only tested on gox and btc-e).

You can give BitcoinMonk a try, it's very simple to set up an alert, delivered by SMS (which is useful vs. iOS apps which rely on 3G connectivity for you to receive notifications...)

well, another existing service is ecur.biz, there is still lack some functions, but it is free now and we want to expand it with all features required by users. Also it allows to track not only current rate value but rate changes in percents or $/BTC

We are proud to announce that BitcoinReminder.com now supports Jabber/XMPP notifications. From now on, you can get notifications over Google Talk or other Jabber/XMPP services. Just like with email and text/SMS notifications, they will be totally free until the end of the beta phase. Beside this, we added campbx and btcchina to our supported market list and reached last week the 1000-registered users border
