I knew it! Could you tell engineers at AMD that we need GDS both on Windows and Linux? This is such a waste of time and energy...
Not at all...your implementation will work just fine under linux, and im pretty sure the majority of miners (at least people with more than 1 or 2 cards) are on linux anyways. I hope so... We will see.

Transactions must be included in a block to be properly completed. When you send a transaction, it is broadcast to miners. Miners can then optionally include it in their next blocks. Miners will be more inclined to include your transaction if it has a higher transaction fee.

So, should one beat their head against a wall trying to do something for RX on Windows that isn't currently possible, or put it aside for now, and accomplish what *can* be done on linux?

AMD linux driver was a necessary evil, because of Open source driver demands. That's why it's called hybrid driver.

I have an ugly suspicion that most folks mining are on Windoze this past year, but I'm in the process of moving all of my rigs BACK to LINUX (most of them are still there) and NONE of them have more than 4 GPUs in teh rig (counting the AMD APU most of my rigs have). LINUX drivers for AMD have veried, just like the Windows ones - some have been trash, some have been good reliable stuff. It would be more accurate to say that most of the 2016 driver releases IN GENERAL from AMD have been trash to at least some degree.

Alright, multithreading is working now. I just optimized Round 0 and the miner is already running faster. I should be done pretty soon.

I mine on Windows 10, 7 rigs. Me and 3 friends over 100 cards. Easier to switch coins, the RX cards don't support undervolting and such under Linux, or BIOS flashing, so Linux is less profitable by ~15%. Driver setup is a lot easier. I dual mining Eth/Dcr right now, ZEC less profit unless you have Nvidia cards. I can get $30/month/card (after power costs), or $20/month/card for ZEC. Zec mining was fun until good Nvidia miners were made, now I only mine with a few 1060s.

May I ask for a link for the linux bios flashing utilities? I had no idea they existed (not doubting you). This thread covers it.. It is on a Russian forum, but the instructions are in English. It is also available in ethos which is how I found out about it and it works great and flashes much faster than its windows counterpart. http://bitcoinbg.eu/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=3967

I hope hes able to keep support for windows boxes id rather use windows for GPU mining unless someone has come up with a way to use PI then I would welcome Linux over windows any day ... but for Now please keep windows support more use windows then most think or know ...for GPU mining , I'll be honest i can set it up (a Linux box but but it's to limiting for me )..and don't notice much difference in speeds .. to make it worth the hassle .. i do test it from time to time ...I hate using Linux desk tops , and use the server version if I use Linux... and i have a copy of the ethos os and a copy of the pimp.
PS please above all don't Assume because you may use Linux and like it more , that other do and will...
Thanks Top..

I know Fiji, Hawaii, Tahiti etc are better for ZEC, I am referring to Polaris. I know I could install Windows just to flash, then install Linux, or find out how to flash from Linux, but that's a lot of extra work, and I have never had a good experience with Linux drivers and such. The other point about not being able to undervolt (last I checked), affects profit also, I can easily save 200W+ per rig. I also have a limit to how much I can cool without overloading central A/C in summer, so undervolting is a must. I know I could flash bios with voltage, but that is more work for tweaking, and makes it harder to switch coins (if ZEC profit goes up I may switch), since Eth I run 1100 core, 920mv, and ZEC more like 1260, 1020mv. For those that like Linux, go ahead, just stating my reasons. On pre-Polaris cards, Windows drivers are fine, so it is a mute point. I use Linux for VMs (web developer.... though getting RSI of some sort ), but have never really liked the desktop versions enough to switch.

I giggled at "AMD Linux driver is abomination". It is true. I second that, AMD or even ATI day's linux or windows drivers were not very good, and it doesn't seems to be better those days. That said if i ever invest in AMD rigs and it need linux to run smoother / faster and so on, i'll switch no brainers, we're mining, here to make money, desktop shouldn't be a consideration since all miners are cmdline anyway for now with my nvidia rigs, i have no pros going to linux, it's rock stable in w10, and the hashes are the same. Windows allow you to setup rigs faster, and make everything easier, when you mine it's good, you want your brand new rig to be mining asap, windows allow you to do that. When you reach a certain scale (10+ rigs), you can then, take your sweet time with one rig to get it up and optimized, and then duplicate the system to your others. That's how i see it @tm Keep up the good work Zawawa, i sadly don't understand 1/3 of what you're doing here (mostly) but it seems to be very interesting work

Linux does have it uses but lacks a lot in what it can do over windows .. i don't see how anyone can say Linux is better for GPU mining , I honestly wish it was or I could get used to the Desktop versions of LINUX but i can't, I use the server version on my PI's it's the best thing going for them over the windows PI version ... At the end of the day, we should each choose what service us best, as individuals. We should be grateful we *have* choices to begin with. Must be getting late ...
