Mt Gox says it will take 2-5 days to receive my money.  Will I be able to afford even one bitcoin by then!?!

Its not Mt. Gox's fault that it takes that long - international wire transfers to basically anybody take that long.

I also used a wire-transfer, and it took 3 days, and that was back at $40 BTC price.

Have a look at the chart below, currently Bitcoin has a 9% daily growth rate.

You'll be fine. Prices fluctuate $20 a day it seems.
