Any form of trading will kill your coins if you don't know what you are doing.
Some whale dumps and you WILL get caught out and end up with a torn up balance.
Bitcoin is becoming more stable so getting caught out will occur less.

My advice
---------------------
Either go without protection (Stop-Loss) or HODL.
Currently HODL has given good profits so why risk more.
Greed kills so don't try and get MOARRRR!!!! (just buy coins).

Bitcoin is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get !!

I don't have such a strategy. I bought at $300 with the idea to hold for many years. Never regret.

Absutely right. Just buy biycoin whenever the price is low and wait for the price to increase, if I were you be patienly wait for at least a year before you withdraw it.
It is okay to trade in any coin that you've seen that the performance is good in the padt months. Just be vigilant which coin you'll invest.

or do you just hodl forever?

thanks

most bitcoin users are in it for the long haul so they hodl  for a long time (you can call it forever). but day trading is a very different story. and for me whenever i do it, the percentage i set it on is very different based on the market state we are in. for example when prices were stable with little volatility my settings were too tight but these days i leave a much bigger room because of volatility. it can go from ~1% to 5%

Buying the dip...

I do not have a stop loss. I just hold and use it.

Too illiquid to manage proper stops, imo.....but when i do use em i give more leeway then other markets....keeping tight stops on finex or stamp, in particular, is very dangerous.
