Most LINUX-based miner software assumes the use of Ubuntu 14.04, Ubuntu 16.04, or one of the derivatives like XUbuntu.

in comparison  to other products out there this is cheap.
this also takes in account the miners out there that take a percentage of your daily payout or in any other form.
the product takes allot of development, testing, research to give you and many others a stable safe carefree and easy product that runs great right out of the box and we are working constantly on upgrading and perfecting our products to ensure that you will have that experience
we also like to point out that we try to listen as best we can to the people that run the product and take every problem serious.

try buying a tutorial from lynda.com or on cbt nuggets. I think those were the best that I've seen so far. I use to give reviews to the tutorials on those sites for few bucks. the best that I've seen so far is from CBT nuggets Redhat.

there is already one distribution bundled with ethereum mining apps:ethos
you need to learn how to use terminal, sudo.look at articles related with terminal.
after all learning things only thing you need is running the program from terminal.

Also PIMP, which predates EthOS and is still being actively worked on, and a couple others that appear to have been dropped from maintainance much less development.

ALL of these appear to be/have been Ubuntu derivatives.
