Why does qtum have several receiver addresses and how many can a wallet have?

Is it possible to fix one inside qtum core wallet for qtum so that when you open it, that's the address by default and qtum is mostly stored inside that address only?

To answer your first question: multiple "receive" and "change" addresses are used to obfuscate your transaction history and make it hard for people to identify who's giving money to whom:

https://bitzuma.com/posts/who-needs-bitcoin-change-addresses-anyway/

A wallet can theoretically have an unlimited number of "receive" and "change" addresses, but wallets may default to a certain value. The Electrum wallet defaults to 20.

Did some googling and it seems you need to change the "gap limit" to alter the default number of receive addresses, but could only find info. relating to the Electrum wallet:

https://gist.github.com/miguelmota/f439ac00735a7c4e2b183e27f19140bd
https://blockonomics.freshdesk.com/support/solutions/articles/33000215760-gap-limit-faq

Official documentation:
http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#what-is-the-gap-limit
MUST READ:
http://docs.electrum.org/en/latest/faq.html#how-can-i-pre-generate-new-addresses

Second article says value must be between 20 and 200.

How receive and change addresses are generated:

https://www.investopedia.com/terms/h/hd-wallet-hierarchical-deterministic-wallet.asp
https://www.1daydude.com/deterministic-and-non-deterministic-wallets/
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Deterministic_wallet
https://www.cs.cornell.edu/~iddo/detwal.pdf

Every receive/change address is generated (deterministically) from a seed, so you just need that seed and every address can be recovered (the seed is generated from the wallet recovery passphrase that you must remember). Google "hierarchical deterministic addresses" for more info.

TO STOP USING CHANGE ADDRESSES: I don't use Qtum Core wallet, but on the Electrum wallet, click "Tools", "Preferences", then "Transactions" and make sure "change addresses" is UNchecked.

TO STOP USING MULTIPLE RECEIVE ADDRESSES: I don't know how to do that unless you can change the gap limit to 1. Alternatively, simply copy and paste the same "receive" - NOT "change" - address instead.
In order to get the maximum amount of activity points possible, you just need to post once per day on average. Skipping days is OK as long as you maintain the average.

No matter how silly it may sound now, but until today I have not paid attention to QTUM. Now I want to learn more and be aware of the development of the project. I see great prospects here.

Here's a good intro:
https://www.circle.com/en/research/qtum

Worth subscribing to circle research for various reports on cryptos and crypto sectors, such as DEXes:
https://www.circle.com/en/research/decentralized-exchanges

Qtum was recently listed by Circle Research:
https://www.ccn.com/crypto-giant-circle-lists-eos-stellar-0x-and-qtum/

Qtum is also on Binance's "gold label" list:

I can't download Electrum wallet from the site https://qtumeco.io/wallet.
Some strange error happen: "Failed - File incomplete". Maybe wrong link?
Also there is strange version date: Qtum Electrum 0.18.10  1970-01-01

QTUM is more advanced platform with amazing features I also think future will bring more amazing results for this project. There are so many projects who have planned to build their business on the top of this blockchain so more adoption will make this more valuable.

Hopefully there will be lots of DAPPS on QTUM this year, otherwise all this great work on developing a killer platform will be for nothing. Getting a gold label from binance is big news so hopefully it will attract more investors and developers

I have the same wish as yours for the QTUM project in the year.
When market turned better, it is good time to come back to work.
Just kidding a little bit because I known that QTUM team have continuously worked hard last year.

The Qtum blockchain platform is introducing Bitcoin's atomic swaps on its mainnet infrastructure, according to a press release shared with Cointelegraph on January 9th.

The implementation of Qtum-to-BTC atomic swaps was realized with the use of Hash Time-Locked Contracts (HTLCs) technology, considered by the Qtum team the safest way to implement swaps, and is based on the code of open cryptocurrency source Decred.

This is good news for the future of this platform they are working with positive mind and developing interesting features for this network. QTUM have professional people in their dev team so in future we will get more positive news.

Although I left QTUM months back due to lack of Dapp adoption, I heard today there was news on an atomic swap with BTC. Can anyone detail what this means for QTUM? I read elsewhere that some other projects had abandoned atomic swaps, such as Altcoin.io, in favor of plasma, state channels, or other tech due to downsides. Are atomic swaps still relevant tech?

Dear QTUM community. We, a team of enthusiasts, are pleased to inform you about our project http://qchats.club/ which logs all the important telegram chats related to QTUM. We believe that QTUM Chats will be a valuable addition to the QTUM ecosystem. During the work of the site, we have already received a large number of positive feedback from community members. The project is under active development. The project has its own team of programmers, ready at any time to solve new technical problems and make new improvements.

What is implemented at the moment:
You can read your favorite chats in the form convenient for you through http://qchats.club/
The site is optimized for work also on mobile devices. There is a search by keyword and date. It is possible to read the chat you want in your native language using Google Translate. The translation is not perfect, but it will allow you to receive the latest news as quickly as possible from the first sources. For example, you can use our site to read Chinese, Russian, Korean and other versions of QTUM telegram chat.

In the near future, we plan to add the ability to share a specific telegram post in social networks. On the one hand, it will allow you to share interesting content with your friends and subscribers, and on the other hand, it will positively influence the development of QTUM’s popularity in general.

There is a lot of work ahead, we have planned a huge number of interesting and useful improvements. If you have any suggestions for improving our site, please write - we will try to take everything into account and use it in the further development of the site.

If you think that some important chat related to QTUM is missing on our site, please write and we will add it.

QTUM is decentralized but eth or eos is not decentralized. and maxium coin for qtum is 100m but etherium is no minimum and eos is 1000,000.  also qtum has The Benefits of Bitcoin and Ethereum. qutum is like etherium and bitcoin .

That is most wonderful definition of this platform first you said ETH is not decentralized and than you are saying QTUM is like ETH. This make me laugh so high and even other people will also enjoy this when they will read this.

is qtum more scalable then EOS or ETH?   or what benefits QTUM network have?

Right now, EOS is the most scalable because it has just 21 nodes, but is highly centralized. Qtum is like Ethereum and has problems scaling, but that may be resolved in the future (though Ethereum has the edge because of all the developers working on it). One benefit Qtum may have is its upcoming x86 VM, allowing smart contracts to be programmed in numerous existing programming languages, but Ethereum is also working on that.

https://bitcoinmagazine.com/articles/qtum-forges-ahead-development-its-x86-virtual-machine-and-expanded-network/

Another advantage was meant to be its Simplified Payment Verification (SPV) protocol - used by Bitcoin - that makes it easy to run dapps on smartphones (because you don't have to download the entire blockchain to verify transactions), but, apparently, that's not the advantage it once was.

https://blog.icoalert.com/the-ethereum-challengers-ep-6-qtum-qtum

No one can predict the future. If several blockchains can co-exist and thrive, then one doesn't have to be massively superior to the others.

Good article - best to print it out for reading:
