Maybe he is just disillusioned by the current system. Living in a country run primarily by politicians from oligarchic clans, I definitely share the same sentiment.

It's true that not all politicians are bad or corrupted, but public feel this way, it's fact.
Can we change public opinion?
I don't think so.
You see, even if media find one bad guy among 1 000 politicians, it will be enough to create image that all politicians are corrupt.
Right question is who is ''decision maker'' today?

The only reason politics works is, people don't think about why situations around them happen as they do. We all know that we often don't think of all the ideas. We like to listen to others tell us their views. Politicians are snakes that have figure out the wording to use to play on our emotions, so that we believe what they say, even when we don't.

Most of us simply don't think deeply enough to know how to counter a politician's words that we are against. Often we simply end up believing him because we can't find our own way to counter him.

I do feel that the people who we trust most for our country are the real hypocrites. We really don't know what do they do, the most powerful people are the abusive ones, they seem to careless and irresponsible. Do they really care about the people who they serve? I just hate politicians who doesn't have any compassion.

   That is exactly what they doing, districting us from reality while rich families are getting more richer every year. Its not just about money, we are slaves and they are using laws and politicians to keep us where we are now.
   There is no good politician!!! All of them are corrupted! While they get high salaries, fees, everything paid people are living on the edge. And what can politician do? Almost nothing, they cant heal people, they cant make food and good houses. They are just a tool in the hands of the rich people. If they can they would make better world long time ago....

Government is "vitally important". Politics keeps government from operating efficiently, especially in a two-party system. In a two-party system each party only survives (i.e., gains more members and votes) by convincing the People that the other side is wrong. This driver of their survival leads to both parties forcing the divide among the population.

Additionally, career politicians must stay in office to continue their career. Thus they become more and more incentivized to say what people want them to hear, vote for measures based on special interests that fund their campaigns, and trade votes regardless of what's best for their community and electorate.

It's a fucked up system. Politicians are the lowest form of career choice. Even President Obama, who probably resembled the greatest ethics of any modern-day politician had to succumb to the quid-pro-quo nature of politics. He gave in to the Republicans requiring his Affordable Care Act not be a single payer model, and instead by administered through insurance companies, which in-turn led to ski-rocketing premiums this year.

I agree that not all politicians are corrupt, but I beleive that's only because they haven't reached a high-enough level of power for corruption to benefit them. Also, trading votes or buying into special interests (rather than what best for the majority) isn't corrupt...it just perverts, stifles a good government from operating in the best interests of the people.

I'd love to get your thoughts on all this.

I can boldly say just a small number of people enter into politics with the aim of helping their country or making their nations great just like Trumps theme. But most people especially in Africa enter into Politics with the aim of enriching themselves, They will strip the country bare and loot any available resources, thats their mindset when they enter into politics. No wonder Africa is poor even though they have majority of Natural Resources. The Leaders of let the whole continent down.

Yes, in my country many politicians are only concerned with themselves and many citizens are harmed, I think almost all of the country like that. Very few politicians who actually run the political system in correctly. They only given the promise without certainty, and it's all nonsense. Actually, if the political system do and run with the correct political behavior, political system will be able to walk properly in accordance rights and obligations. Indeed, only a few politicians who actually run their rights and obligations properly and correctly. Maybe can only hope the political system run properly according to the rules.

And that is  exactly why they are voted into office in countries that practiced democracy and where votes actually count. Most times, politicians will never tell the citizens the truth but only what they want to hear and thats it because the reality which is the truth that you are clamoring for here hurts and most times its either people dont want to hear or it will do more harm than good in saying it.

So, even you, you are not sure of not doing the same thing because when you get to that position you will understand that its totally a different ball game and nothing else.

So if you have 50% of the population socialists, that want to steal money from you. Then the politician only taxes you on behalf of those 50% of people.

I rather think its the paid media thats rather bombarding us with unnecessary things to keep us distracted from what's really going in the society. These news agencies are all afilliated with a certain political party and they spread the propaganda that their parties want. I think we focus too much on these things and we really cant put attention to a lot of things that matter more. hunger, climate change, people getting sick. it's absurd that instead of putting more resources to resolve these issues, we give more importance to politics and bickering among ourselves. it really funny if you think about it and it doesn't make any sense

I can see you're an idealist. Many young people who came to the European Parliament were like that, they wanted to make a difference, but the reality kicked them in the butt and pushed them into the same boundaries their predecessors were pushed into. €8000 a month is not a small sum, people will do a lot to retain it for another year, and then for another, and ideals slowly move to the side. I agree with you. But it should be ideally. In fact, we see a completely different picture. Politicians often pursue their own interests and paying for it in the interests of the state and its people. How to be in this case? Silent and obediently wait?
