It is a common myth that Bitcoin is ruled by a majority of miners. This is not true. Bitcoin miners "vote" on the ordering of transactions, but that's all they do. They can't vote to change the network rules.
Advertised sites are not endorsed by the Bitcoin Forum. They may be unsafe, untrustworthy, or illegal in your jurisdiction.

I hope this is true.  Havent ordered off bitmain before.  Do they tend to only do lot buys in the beginning?  Im highly interested in these as the A4s never got me to hit the purchase button, these might do it though.  Watching for now

That is correct.
I said that there is a product page.
I didn't say that the miner is available.

And yes, for the release date they say "January 5 shipped from Inner Mongolia".

Looks like the L3 is going to be what the A4 was supposed to be... A game changer.  This miner could force the retirement of the Titan's and even the A4's.  Of course the devil is in the details.

Will it crash the ltc price?

Will it crash the ltc price?

You can mine at least 4 other coins (Scrypt ones) with much more profit than LTC - so I think it will not crash it

Note the hashrate in LTC Antpool. Assuming with big probability that the larger part of their hashrate is generated by L3, looks quite stable. So it's the hope of L3 to be fairly stable but the performance is a mystery.

Wow, they lost 130 Gh/s of Scrypt (LTC) overnight.
Yesterday the pool was 361 Gh/s, as of now it's 235 Gh/s. I wonder if they've had a power outage in thier new DC, it was due to go live about now.

May have shipped a batch of them to one of their large local customers.

Won't have ANY significant effect on the PRICE of LTC (or any other Scrypt coin).
Hashrate has shown *ZERO* impact on price historically.

If they ship enough of them, it WILL hammer LTC/Scrypt coin PROFITABILITY (which is a WHOLE DIFFERENT story).
It is PROFITABILITY that sometimes drives hashrate down when the profitability drops enough.

I have to wonder if Innosilicon caught a rumor of this thing in the wind and that's why they started having "sales" on the A4 so soon?

On the other hand, while this thing appears to be quite a bit more efficient than the A4, I also have to wonder what the RELIABILITY is going to be like - the history of issues with the S7 and S9 do NOT fill me with confidence.

More hash. More coins. More coins to sell (do you think that big farms want to hold ltc after mine it? Of course not). Price will go down

More Hash = More Difficulty, not more coins.

One of the briliiant features of blockchain is that the miner's 'reward' (coin production) rate is hard coded. If more hash is added, the blockchain alters the difficulty factor to ensure the 'reward' rate stays constant (as prescribed by the currency designer when the blockchain core was compiled).

So more Hash = same amount of coins, BUT less $ per hash as Profit = reward/hashrate

That's an interesting factor that anyone considering the L3 would be wise to factor into thier ROI calculations.

If the quoted Mh/s for an L3 is +/- 10%, lets assume that it's 'real' rate is 237.5Mh/s (-5%) and factor in 2-3% rejects we're now at 230Mh/s on Pool.
Then if the failure rate is 10-20% as others have said (lets use 10%), your real-life Mh/s (taking in miner failures) could be 205Mh/s across your fleet while failed miners are offline (perhaps permanently?).

If you bought 10 at $1800 landed on your doorstep but 2 failed (20%), your real cost per (funtioning) unit is $18,000/8 = $2,250.
And if you send them away to be repaired, your cost for those miners is $1800 + opportunity cost (lost mining profits per day) + shipping and repair costs.

In this respect, I've always wondered what the real cost of ownership/net present value is been for Titan's too.
At $10,000 each plus repair costs, I wonder if they've ever paid for themselves and at what electricity price per Kwh that happened?

On the other hand, while I agree the price is too high now, has anyone ever had an Innosilicon card fail, and under what circumstances?

I don't know of any Inno A4 hardware failures yet.  I think that says a lot.  I too am very nervous about Bitmain's very poor track record and high failure rates.  I think it is wise to factor that into the cost equation.

Power efficiency really comes into play if the DIFF takes off much higher and miners start to become unprofitable, but how high does diff need to get before it pinches the bottom line of the Titans and the A4's really?  And if it reaches that price/diff ratio how many people will just sell their equipment and call it a day?

No L3 yet for me ...using the below logic...looking like I'll have to wait till the end of the year...

Alas thou.

Kinda interested. Concerned about the massive LTC and other scrypt difficulty hike. I find it hard to believe that if you are running huge BTC farms in China.
(which you will likely still run for transaction fees and have roi'd) that you would expand with any more BTC miners ..the math says go to scrypt miners and/or
LTC imho..if they still want to pow mine.

I think it may be a difficulty rout.

Also I'm around 100 BTC again now and roi'd on all my stuff. So a 1900 buck L3 with shipping after the equip deduction I can get for 1 year off deal
with IRS on such off taxes due (plenty of that this year) that knocks the real price when that comes into play of cost of $1420....but again that with
shipping say is 1.5 btc ...and at 100 btc again I find myself getting very 'skimpy' on spending my hoard of btc now......my precious!

will likely wait for equip till the end of the year and get a heat benefit out of it and use the equip deduction at that time then to eat some of the miner $$$ slush
from the maybe last hurrah of the roi'd titans this year.....w/o heat benefit into next winter (even with extra titans piled up in a corner) I'd likely have
to use my equip deduction angle up the first 1/2 of the year

angles..angles.....always the angles

So I may break down and get one L3 soon...but mostly it will be from bored and toy factor.....end of the year...well then that would be the more 'adult'
way to look at it...we will see how it breaks in my funny little mind Smiley

my precious!

More hash. More coins. More coins to sell (do you think that big farms want to hold ltc after mine it? Of course not). Price will go down

There arent more coins to sell though, it doesnt work like that.  More hash yes but that just means less coins/h, so in effect you are right unless the price of ltc can go up a bit to raise the profit margin.  Its all a guessing game really.  Its fun while it lasts though, i dont think the home miner will be around much longer anyway

Ok, Just throwing a feeler out there to see who is interested...

I am talking with someone in China who says he can get us the L3's at a pretty good cost.  I am pressing him for the details now and will flush out if this is real or not.  If it does turn out to be real I might be crazy enough to try and setup a group buy on these things.

So let me know if you might be interested, and how many units you would be wanting.  I have no idea on the price yet, but let's just use the mythical number $1600 each plus shipping.  Could be higher, could be lower.  Use that as a planning number for the moment.  Also if we do a large order there will be customs to pay so we have to keep that in mind also.

So let me know what you guys think.   Right now I can say that the info I have so far is quite sketchy so I don't know how real this is...  But thought it would be worth putting feelers out to see how many we might want if we can get them for a decent price.  This will give me a possible planning number for trying to push for the best price possible.  Thanks!

So let me know:
Yes, ready to make a commitment if this is real, I want <#>
No, No thanks I will wait for Bitmain to make them available
Maybe, I need more info, but I might want <#>
