I'm running around at work ATM, so I have no idea what was said by the CNN reporter.

The amazing thing is, my wife has been tuning me out every time I ramble on about Bitcoins for two years now, convinced that it was just a harmless hobby shared by a few internet geeks (despite the fact that she tunes in regularly to The Good Wife and saw the bitcoin episode).

I will always remember today as the day Bitcoin went "mainstream" in my world.

Still around.

There are several different types of Bitcoin clients. The most secure are full nodes like Bitcoin Core, which will follow the rules of the network no matter what miners do. Even if every miner decided to create 1000 bitcoins per block, full nodes would stick to the rules and reject those blocks.

I agree, that's an important day. I've noticed in the past everytime my wife + her gfs started liking something it was the beginning of something unstoppable:Chipotle, Lulemon, Apple Shares 2yrs ago etc... still waiting for them to start talking about BTC... you are one step ahead of me Wink

happen to me too.
Even if btc jump to 266$ now i would buy ahah.

The cost of mediation increases transaction costs, limiting the
minimum practical transaction size and cutting off the possibility for small casual transactions

it's not just your wife.

and it's not by accident that she gives greater credibility to some reporter on tv than she does to you.

It's called marketing.

most commercials are targeted towards middle class women. the middle class is comprised mostly of white people

with many of the ads there is a white male portrayed as being the husband and that man is depicted as a stupid buffoon.

you might consider talking with her about this.  she might not even realize that's what happened there (if that is what happened, who knows.  maybe she just thought you would appreciate learning that it appeared on a major tv news site.)

That for me was April 4'th.  I was at the gym and Bitcoin was on the CNBC financial channel.  That was the first time I saw Bitcoin on TV that I had not searched out myself.

Same for me OP.
In Australia the 7PM Project on channel 10 reported on bitcoin and my wife yelled at me to get out of the shower "bitcoin is on TV!!!"

The report was pretty average, no supprise, but I was most impressed that she managed to sit through the whole minute and a half coverage.
Compared to her 5 second attention span whenever I had talked about it over the last year its a win in my book.  Smiley Cheesy

Or more likely she reacted the same way men do when their wives start talking about the perfect shade of white paint.  Eggshell or cream?  Nothing sinister going on.
