Apparently going to be a dual Polaris - so think "pair of RX 480 on one card with a slightly lower clock", per what's out there on the web.

Price is speculated to be close to or a bit less then the GTX 1080, but IMO anything over double the price of a RX 480 is too much, AKA it *SHOULD* by rights be closer to GTX 1070 pricing.

Probably will be announced December 13 at that AMD "New Horizons" event officially.

Vega cards are expected first Quarter 2017 and I should have mass quantities and solid mining numbers before launch.

Sounds kinda lazy of them.

Id expect 512 bit memory lanes and 2 cores placed on the board, maybe good for the hardcore gamers who want 4k but for mining will be pretty meh for the price.

Do keep in mind that mining sales EVEN FOR AMD are a very small part of their overall sales - even on the higher-end cards Miners prefer.

For NVidia, it's not a noticeable factor at all as they've rarely been overall competative on any GPU-based coins.
THEIR stronghold is Folding@Home and the like - and that's a very small factor for them (except perhaps for EVGA with their long-standing FAH support/reward program).

That is right. But if the ZCash takes off, there will be more mininig operations. That could change a lot in the future.

AriesIV10 said today that the RX 490 will be announced on December 12th on Phil's thread. Check it here. I'm not sure about that, but that might be good for us because cards price should be lowered a bit.

this is a dual chip not a very new gpu just buy two 480 if you want the same performance, well it would save on the risers and MB slot, but that's it

the real new gpu will be vega with rx580 and fury pro

And how it is with GPU limit to one mainboard?
For single chip cards it is 8, so max. 4 dual chip card to one MB?

"Totally trustworthy WCCFTech have unleashed another leak surrounding a potential RX 490 card, with their insiders claiming a December launch for the high-end AMD card."

We are going to see soon how trustworthy WCCFTech are Smiley

Probably, as I recall that's how the HD 7990 and R9 295X worked.

Might be nice for a Phil-style 4-card no-riser rig if the price isn't prohibitively more than 2 x RX 480s.

I suspect the official announcement / launch will be December 13 as part of the AMD "New Horizons" event.

Those 7990 cards were hard to keep cool.

But if the z170 boards do 4 cards you won't do more then two of,these.

Also I had 3 power color 7990 cards none of them did as well as 2  7970 .

But you needed four slots for two 7970s and three case slots for the 7990

It will be interesting to see if the card has a 512-bit or more memory interface which might help it perform quite a bit better on certain algos compared to two 480 cards. Early info indicates it will be more than 256-bit but until we have one to test your guess is as good as mine.

490 ie Vega 10 (most likely will be named 500 series), will be a 64 CU die paired to either a 2048 or 4096bit HBM2 interface (will be 512 GB/s mem throughput either way). Based on mem bandwidth alone it should be able to do about 43 MH eth, and about 400S/s zec, but some of that is going to be dependent on where the core is clocked (especially for zec mining).

Either way doubt it will be able to touch the 470/480 on perf/$

I am all down for more powerful cards but if they wont have a cheaper perf/$ ratio then they have to have some other pros

what do we suspect the power ratio to be like?

if we take for example the 7990 it's going to be pretty high and very hard to keep cooled down, probably not gonna be worth the try.

That is right. I only run the 7990 at below 1000mV and 900MHz. Otherwise, it is too hot.
