For the last hours I say we are doing fine without mtgox
Mtgox should never reopen or it should reinvest all it's profit to re-enable trust that they crushed.

I enjoy periodically watching from afar as everyone continues to

GET GOXXXED!!!

I sincerely hope that the 80% of the people that use them lose all of their money, all of their friends money, their kids college funds, and all of their drug money.  Over and over and over and over they get hacked, or they go down, or they close up, or whatever - and somehow THEY never seem to lose a cent.

I can't wait until the next butthurt thread about someone losing a billion dollars from their moms piggy bank on some paypal or mt gox deal gone wrong, or something else.  I really can't.

People need to start learning, and if it doesn't cost them huge sums of money they don't seem to learn.

Be fearful when others are greedy, and greedy when others are fearful.

But how can we know what is the bitcoin price now ?
I am looking bitcoinwatch.com :
by Mt Gox is 125 $ but is closed
by BTC-E is 65 $
by bitstamp is 61 $
and the best of all is Ripple 75 $ but 115 EUR

Hopefully Mtgox reopens and gets massive sellout and out of business.

We have no way of knowing.

Mt. Gox says at https://support.mtgox.com/entries/21519569-Market-Cooldown-for-12-hours:

"However, you may still cancel your pending and open orders."

We have no idea how many "pending and open orders" Mt. Gox has yet to execute. There could be hundreds or even thousands.

Also, what kind of viable currency would allow an exchange that controls 80% of the market to declare a "market cooldown" whenever it pleases and for however long it pleases?

If you have access to another exchange, you'd better give serious consideration to what could happen 5 hours from now.

It's pathetic to see you all complain about MtGox. It's the best exchange we have and will stay exactly this due to network effect. They have all the traders because they have all the traders. And next week you whine about being scammed by one of the smaller exchanges that ran with your money. Do it better. Open an exchange and do it better. But please stop whining.
