Digital currency bitcoin kicked off the new year by jumping above $1,000 for the first time in three years late on Sunday, having outperformed all central-bank-issued currencies with a 125 per cent climb in 2016.
Bitcoin - a web-based "cryptocurrency" that has no central authority, relying instead on thousands of computers across the world that validate transactions and add new bitcoins to the system - jumped 2.5 per cent to $1,022 on the Europe-based Bitstamp exchange, its highest since December 2013.

Within no time from 1050 btc it has reached the level of 1130$ per btc. Today itself there as being huge jump from the start of day 1028$ to 1130$ i.e 100$ just in a day jump. Hope it stabilizes and does not fall back back to below 1000$  |

Digital cryptos are the future. Banks already see the value and are testing different blockchains. Blockchain technology improves finacial systems but can also undermind the banking system as well. Its nice to see what the future holds.

Yes this is true as many banks are testing about the blockchain technology and trying to see how they can use it in their system and its demerits as well. Infact couple of months bank ICICI bank was the first Indian bank to test the blockchain technology and did their successful transaction as well. |

Sudden fall today in the price and went as low as 885$ from 1135$ just in a day  . Though from some time now price is getting back to 1000$ and trading at present 975$. Not sure what happened for such a sudden fall and if it could see 1000$ again or will slide down from now on. |

Not sure what happened for such a sudden fall and if it could see 1000$ again or will slide down from now on. It is trading above $1000 now. Some kind of pullback was necessary. The market was definitely getting overheated.  |

Just there is no reason for 50$ movement in an hour it is happening this actually can slide the bitcoin price to below 900$ back and may not touch 1000$ if this continues for sometime now. Or is the fallback on the cards in coming time  |
