The addresses are generated from the seed. Addresses are not linked to one another, other than them being linked by the seed, master private/public key.

You can import an address yourself. However, you need to create a new wallet. Electrum only allow users to create a new wallet and import from there to prevent users from losing Bitcoins.

wallet.storage.write()

Restart your wallet and you should have 50 addresses showing instead of 20. Electrum will continue making new addresses as you use your wallet, but 50 will show up.

If you ever restore your wallet from seed you will need to retype those commands into the "console" tab to see your 50 addresses because 20 is the default.

If you increase the number of addresses showing to over 100 electrum might start slowing your computer down.

Sorry if this is of topic but i have no idea how to start a new thread. But i was wondering if someone could help me i think i have just had my electrum wallet hacked while i was offline today. Two payments out at the same time.

I just downloaded electrum because my multibit HD started showing my bc as unconfirmed but that is not all. The exchange i use told me there are having problems with their servers and they keep having to be rebooted. My last transaction there took over 2 days to be confirmed from my and there side.

I am desperate to talk with someone that is technical as i am not i will call you if you give me a number what is ever easiest for you. I am desperate thanks.

The above is better because wallet.storage.put doesn't do input validation. You could put a letter in there and it would set the gap limit to some absurdly high number like 2 billion.

Electrum does this so that the computer would not have to scan for lots of addresses that has no balance. Electrum is probably not designed for a huge number of addresses if you do not have a strong computer.

You can create each addresses individually too, wallet.create_new_address(). Electrum generates an address as you spend one, this is far better than generating a few hundred and the user doesn't use all of them. Addresses are derived from seed.

It seems you don't understand what a deterministic wallet is. Put simply each electrum wallet can have nearly unlimited addresses. Each time you use an address by receiving bitcoins to it electrum will generate new ones automatically so that you have at least 20 unused ones. So don't worry address generation is automatic and you don't have to do anything to generate new addresses. Ok?

I need some dedicated receiving addresses that will be given to different persons. I expect funds to be received to these addresses not immediately but after a while. So I need to be sure not to use this addresses by accident again. I know that Electrum generates a new address every time the old address is used but as I mentioned above funds will be received to these addresses later, so they won't be considered as "used" until it happens. In this case I need either to remove (somehow) these addresses from address list in Electrum or mark them as "used" or have an ability to generate some kind of dedicateded addresses that aren't listed in address list at all.
Can I solve this problem anyhow?

Electrum maintains 20 unused addresses by default not just one. Do you need more than that? If yes then first increase the gap limit:

The gap limit is the number of unused addresses Electrum keeps track of. To increase the gap limit open your wallet and go to the console tab. Type in wallet.change_gap_limit(50). Close Electrum and reopen your wallet to see new addresses listed on the receive tab.

Now regarding addresses for future use what you can do is simply label them as such. That way you won't use them for anything else. So the easiest way to do this is via the "receive" tab. Just enter a suitable description and click 'save'. Then you can click on 'new' to get another address. Repeat this process until you have sufficient reserved addresses. You can view your list of reserved addresses in the list at the bottom of the receive tab. Clicking on an item in that list will load the details of that "request" in the tab's other fields so you can copy the address.

And in case you are wondering addresses don't expire and can always receive funds.

you have either a multisig or 2fa wallet. what does it say in the window title bar? default_Wallet is just the file name. the wallet type will be given in the title bar too.
