Hi there,

I'm new to the forum, and can only post in the newbies section, but I'd like to announce my Magento bitcoin payment module.  I'm releasing it as a free and open source project.

https://github.com/ticean/magento-bitcoin

For those that don't know Magento is an open source eCommerce platform.  My module is packed with features:

  • Creates new bitcoin currency and symbol. Full currency support in Magento.
  • Currency conversion and conversion rates management. Manually, or daily weighted value from Bitcoincharts service.
  • Scheduled conversion rates update is supported.
  • Accept bitcoin payment.Orders are accepted in Pending status and set to Processing when the minimum confirmation count is reached.
  • Required confirmations is configurable.
  • Fully configurable bitcoind parameters.
  • Http/Https access to bitcoin (if bitcoind configured for https).
  • Generates a new bitcoin address for every order.
  • Provides bitcoin payment address to the customer on checkout.
  • Configurable setting to display a converted grand total on checkout. (ie: Also display grand total in USD.)

There really is a lot here to get store owners up and running with bitcoin. Please feel free to integrate this project into your store and provide feedback.  More on the way. If your interested please let me know.

Moderators, if I could get this over to the projects forum it would really help.

thanks,
ticean

Wow, that is a well thought out system that looks like it has the practicality of using other currencies (automated currency conversion is the big one (for me)).   My 2nd post here was about this very thing.

My store uses VirtueMart unfortunately or I'd have this installed in a heartbeat.

Great work, I hope this gets ported to VirtueMart at some point.

Ciao!

If you weren't aware, there is at least one VirtueMart shopping cart interface plugin that supports bitcoin:

Thanks for the heads up, but I am aware of that one.

It wouldn't work for me because it doesn't support other payment options in VirtueMart and even if it did, I'd have to have some form of automated exchange rate working like in this module, since the current volatility of Bitcoin would be a headache otherwise.

This module looks like it would be as perfect a solution as possible.
