According to NIST and ECRYPT II, the cryptographic algorithms used in Bitcoin are expected to be strong until at least 2030. (After that, it will not be too difficult to transition to different algorithms.)

Contact emails are still on the page as far as I can tell. I can log into my account fine, and there doesn't seem to be any problems with my balances.

I deposited 1 bitcoin a few days ago and it wouldn't credit. sent them a email, and it was credited the next day.

It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

The CEO posted a message a few days ago apologizing for email response delays.  He said they were taking 2 or 3 days to get back to people because they were so busy expanding there operations to the exploding growth.  Really not cool to slag a company if you have no idea what's going on.

Again, ALL businesses dealing in bitcoin are exploding in popularity these days and doing there best to keep up with demand.  Yes it sucks because there are outages and lag and delays, but this is what happens when many of the services are digital and over the net.  Technology is great but still has it's limits.

Chill out.

I quote from the Canadian Virtual Exchange website:

We are responding to every e-mail and voice-mail and currently have a list of 400 customers to get back to due to the high volatility. We have also just hired 6 more staff dedicated to customer service and account verifications. The most common inquires we get are from people failing to read the Deposits and Withdraw Funds link above fully. We also have a youtube video Depositing with VirtEx, please watch this video as well as the trading video on our channel by clicking on the youtube icon above. If you have made a cash deposit you MUST have a corresponding open deposit request shown on Deposit Funds when logged into your account, this involves pressing DEPOSIT and then CONFIRM on the next page. We do not process RUSH cash deposits, we have a dedicated team processing cash throughout the day. EMT's have been disabled due to the RBC closure, we are taking steps to re-enable them with different banks and payment providers with much higher limits in the coming weeks, in the meantime unverified users can withdraw via direct deposit and by filling in their banking information. There is an up to 5 business day delay on receiving a direct deposit to your bank account. If you sent BTC to your VirtEx account and you have 6 confirmations with no balance increase please logout and then back in. Please be assured that we are working as hard as we can to hire resources, get back to every customer inquiry and decrease processing times for all payments.   - April 12, 2013, 12:39 p.m

Cavirtex is a great company, they're having some technical issues right now, but they haven't been hacked and they're not scamming any one.

Don't slander unless you're posting facts.  Should be a fricken' rule on these boards.
Left, right, and center if people aren't satisfied within a matter of minutes, they default to "IT'S A SCAM".  It's good to be wary, but come on... just like Bitcoin itself, the companies that have sprouted up are in their infancy stages as well.
