U should hide it in a secret place and at least one person of your trust (Mother, brother, etc) should know the place and the pass
U dont need to tell everything .. just tell " if something happens to me u have to do this and this"

wallet.dat on a flash drive or two even. Store them at the inlaws or bank.

As soon as I get some funds, I'm gonna purchase another USB drive and another micro SD card/SD card. I want to have at least 4 back ups for my main wallet and 5 for my offline wallet. I always keep an SD card on my wallet in my purse anyways just to be safe.

I have local backups in a raid 1, and then my entire computer is backed up (with encryption) off site using backblaze.

No matter what you do, if you are storing all the keys at one location you're going to get in trouble.
A simple way would be to get a deposit box at a bank and write the key on a piece of paper using a simple cipher. That way the deposit box or you will still have the key (depending on where disaster strikes)

Flash drives are not permanent as in decades! Background radiation and static electricity corrupt data as each bit is stored as a capacitive charge that isn't error checked when the drive is unpowered.
I also like the irony in the suggestion of storing your Bitcoins in a bank out of reach of international banking.
multiple types of media is the way to go, the keys can be engraved on a piece of soft copper, they are the only piece essential to future access to your coins.

I have multiple backups on various email/storage services. Encrypted with a looong password.
Even if i lose what i have at home, i can still download my wallet from there

Don't worry; I engraved my private key on a piece of rice and swallowed it, so I always know I have it with me.
Now, if I could only find it...
